What's the bet they are talking about Norman
HUSH, HUSH II
Which club is in serious danger of losing their playmaker to a Sydney rival? This team has had ample time to re-sign their man but their nonchalant attitude towards negotiations could cost them dearly with two NRL rivals approaching his management about the status of his contract.
Sydney team with an in form play-maker off contract and the fact he hasn't yet re-signed has been in the news
Journo is then able to "speculate" that the player is going to leave.
Even if it is Norman this isn't Parra bashing it's simply showing what journos do and proof that some people here really need relax when some of the stories (ie Semi) show up in the news, often times it's not proof just using certain facts and speculating on potential outcomes

In the Semi case
Semi in the news about changing the rules to allow him to play Origin
Journo knows Semi is under contract but since signing is worth more now then his current deal
Journo uses these two facts to speculate that Semi is unhappy with his current situation, first running with the story about Origin as it is the more recent news item, when that is debunked they go to the backup plan that he is being underpaid.
I think the club has told Norman they are waiting on the watmough outcome so that they can offer him a larger contract. The so called journalist is just grasping at straws on a slow news day
If we think Norman is guarranteed to re sign with us then we are delusional. The best we can hope for is offering a contract not too much lower than the best offered by another club and he stays because he likes the club etc.
Other clubs Sniffing around an inform Norman, shock horror..... That's not journalism it's obvious, to me anyway.
Norman seems to be the sort of player who might do that
and possibly more importantly, even if Norman normally isn't that sort of player, is the BA seems to be the sort of coach who would get players to think that way.
I've not heard any players say a bad word about BA and especially in the case of some of the ex-Manly players a few have said BA being coach played into their decision to come.
possible but unlikely
As both Brooks & Moses have clauses in their contracts to stay at the Tigers that they can enact until May (I think) if they don't then at that time they become free agents for 2017 onwards.
Yes the Tigers have the chance to re-negotiate and likewise other teams can look into offering them a deal that will make them reject the options in their contracts.
But the way the article reads it sounds more like a player who is 100% off contract rather then awaiting a decision on a contractual clause
But if you make a reasonable offer and he is enjoying himself, more than likely he will stay.
Fine "gossip columnist" then
but the point still stands, know what is happening and stop crying about the "Parra bashing" or "personal vendetta" and realise that they do the same thing with every club to fill their papers that's why every big name player who is off contract is rumoured to be going to the Roosters
Is Parra getting a bit extra right now, sure
but that is because due to well documented salary cap investigations, the Eels are in the "hot item of the day" so anything relating to the salary cap is "news"
If the Panthers were in Parra's position right now you could bet your house these same "hacks" would be writing pieces about how Moylan is unhappy with his current deal and how rivals are sniffing around Te Marie Martin etc etc
