Eels and Storm in last minute talks before courts

Apparently the case today has been delayed due to Parramatta and Melbourne engaging in deep talks to get a deal done. Negotiations had ran overnight. What is hilarious is people on social media believe Parramatta know they will lose so are making a deal. Ummmm no this is the NRL not wanting to be involved and not wanting their stuff leaked so the heavies are on Melbourne to get something done.

The rumour at the moment is it could be a three way trade. Jesse Ramien's name has been floating around as Cronulla want cap space in order to front load contracts for next year. One rumour suggested Melbourne would get both Lomax and Ramien, therefore Melbourne would be more open to releasing a player if they get two. Now could that be for example Howarth since Ramien will be one Centre? Maybe but it seems a deal could be struck at the 11th hour.

A separate report also suggests the call from Parra for Lomax not to play Round 1 could still be on table.

  • The media have no idea to be honest, and are just guessing. Melbourne are desperate to land a deal with Lomax - Parra can afford to play the waiting game. If negotiations are now ramping up, you can rightly assume Parra will be getting a player that suits them.

  • Court has been delayed by 1.5 hours this morning due to Melbourne and Parramatta being locked in 11th hour negotiations.

Lomax’s barrister has told the court this morning there has been negotiations over night between the the parties

Court is meant to resume at 11:30am

Melbourne are hopeful that this thing can all be over by the Thursdays game. They are obviously hoping Lomax can play.

With some injuries they may be desperate and give Parramatta what we wanted from the start a player swap!!

The thought of Lomax playing on Thursday makes me a little excited for how much fun it will be to give it to him!!!

    • God he looks old in that pic, that's what this case has done to him.

Look i know Melbourne would say no, but i would still hold the card of he cannot play us in Round 1. If they give us a player that can be the same rule.

Melbourne want it done to get him in for Thursday but also the NRL do not want a single email or text of theirs getting out either.

  • So Storm get Lomax and Ramien, Parra get X(released player) and Sharks get salary cap space? I thought Sharks were a bit thin on outside backs too now with some injuries

    • Yeah but need cap space as they have a lot of players off-contract and have no cash. So if they can get say $300k of Ramien's deal left for example, that can be given to a player or two this year as a top up and get them cheaper on the cap next year to stay. Cronulla do have Katoa and Stonestreet on Wing, Iro and more likely Hiroti at Centre also having Gabriel and a few other juniors that can play in backs.

They want the cap space to keep certain players.

  • So how is going to benefit the Eels if Storm get both Lomax and Ramien? What does Parra get a back of lollipops and some free movie tickets
