Regardless of the turmoil currently engulfing the club off the field we need a plan to get Parramatta competitive on the field.

Currently we appear to be looking for a quick fix but my concern is that this simply will not work. I doubt if getting 2 old players and 1 great player (if he stays) is the solution. Don't be fooled we are still paying huge overs for these players. Overs such as ridiculous contract lengths (2 years should have been maximum time for Watmough and Scott) and a huge chunk of cap invested in Foran. We previously paid a large amount to a former player without on field success.

We need to get the club playing finals football regularly to attract players without paying these overs. How do we achieve this? Imo getting good players, not great ones, is the way to go and following the Canterbury/Storm formula. What is that formula? It's a simple formula, big forwards, develop or acquire large forwards FIRST and then work on your backs. These two clubs always have large forwards, always consistently play in the finals, and are never fighting to stay away from the spoon. Large forwards are the foundations they build the club around. A good coach also greatly helps.

Now BA is not a good coach, but he could be, unfortunately we may never know. A poor initial roster, busted cap and constant injuries have not helped his cause. Our attack has improved immensely, our defence has not, and we appear to mostly play well for 60 minutes and then lose concentration. These flaws will have to be fixed.

Wally Lewis was asked about Sandow recently, when he said he wanted to play his way, and compared him with Alfie Langer. Wally said the team was structured to play around Alfie (who had no structure), not Alfie structured to play around the team and remember Bennett was the coach. If we keep Sandow  it will be interesting to see if BA structures the team around his style of play.
