How Arthur convinced Lane to join Parramatta
Parramatta recruit Shaun Lane says an open talk with Eels coach Brad Arthur convinced the back-rower to reject a new deal with Manly and join his fourth club in five seasons.Lane has settled into his new surroundings in Sydney's west while continuing to study a health science degree at the University of Sydney on a part-time basis. After featuring in every game of 2018 and cementing a starting spot with the struggling Sea Eagles outfit, it is natural to ask why Lane would again chase a fresh start elsewhere."I got asked this by one of the Parramatta blokes when I arrived and I said it just felt good to be wanted," Lane
told."When I first met with Brad he looked me dead in the eye and said I really want you at the club."He said we'll be a better club with you and like how you are as a person. That was the main thing for me and it really hit home."All the clubs that I've been to I've always been looking for a home and somewhere that wants me to stick around. Hopefully, I can stay for good."But the return of Manly forward Curtis Sironen from an ACL injury was set to present another roadblock for Lane in 2019, whereas the Eels had a clear opening in their starting back row with the right edge spot up for grabs."I saw [Manly's media release] and it's a bit for them to protect themselves and it's a compliment for myself that they did want to keep me," Lane said.

Will be Solid on the right edge, knows we're the tryline is and it allows Mau to come of the bench which I think could be huge for us. Giving Mau a bit less game time and a simpler game plan could be a master stroke. Short spurts of his aggressive running style late in both halves for mine 15 min a half.
Yeah, I could see that working. Has an added advantage of Mau being able to fill a number of positions.
Mau plays left edge, Moeroa right edge.
Yep Mau plays left. I wonder if they are still trying to make moeroa a lock/prop. I'm not so sure I'm sold on moeroa being an impact player to replace lane. I guess time will tell.
Meroa was playing on the left late last season and went great guns. Mau was out Injured most of the time.
Didn't Nuikore play left edge?, i have already forgotten lol, trying desperately to put last season behind.
BA needs to sort out what Moeroa is, an edge forward or a middle forward, it's one or the other, not both. He should only play in the middle if we have injuries during a game. Mau would offer more impact off the bench than Moeroa.
HKF. Morora was moved to the right edge in the second half of last season and that to me is his best position, he worried most of the opposition when he was able to get the ball on the run, not his fault that he didn't get enought of it. This year he looks more solid in the body as well. Would not mind to see him on the right with Ma'u on the left off the bench.
I think Lane offers more on the right edge, if Moeroa could play left or even Lane for that matter with Mau on the bench that would be a pretty good group, just as long as Taka is not in the back row.
A uni degree getting nrl player?? Give him the captaincy, sheeeeit
