Parramatta CEO Paul Osborne has scoffed at the figures bandied about in relation to the club's recruitment of Will Hopoate, at today's press conference where the signing was officially announced.
When asked about the figures touted in newspapers, Osborne quipped that "it would mean we'd only have four players in our Top 25" if the figures were accurate.
"We've got enough room for him, we're very happy with the deal and we'll put it in front of the salary cap auditors in the next couple of days".
Hopoate will join the Eels in 2014 after the completion of his two-year Mormon mission on a two-year deal.
Osborne confirmed that two of Hopoate's younger brothers were also joining the club, saying Jamil was a player the club had been examining for some time. However, he said reports that John Hopoate was being added to the coaching ranks were untrue.
The Eels have been pursuing Hopoate since March and had identified him as a target prior to his rise to prominence as an NRL player, Osborne said.
He said the club had researched the success rate of players returning from Mormon missions and was comfortable that he would make a successful return to the game.
"Our physical performance team are already working on a program, and we'll be working with him closely over the next few years," Osborne said.
The Parramatta CEO also noted that the club's recruitment was pretty much "done and dusted" for next year.

Do you think all of the Manly fans giving Parra shit about recruiting John Hopoate on the coaching staff for $200,000, will now apologise given that it was just another lie from the media? Or are they still waiting on an apology from Gallop.
Also there was a Manly fan that posted on here in the week before the grand final saying something like Will Hopoate coming to Parra was the dumbest thing he had ever heard and that Parra was dreaming etc. He had the manly emblem as his symbol, his name was James Scott or something like that. Where the hell are you now?
Don't have a clue who this dude is but apparently it worked for him:
