Home-Grown Talent

Now you're probably thinking this is another blog about our poor retention of juniors, well it's not. I live in the Fairfield area, in South West Sydney and we have produced many stars in a number of sports. I'll start with Rugby League. We've produced Hayne, Inu, T-Rex, The Keatings, Hodkinson, Mark and Anthony Minichello, Liam Fulton, Israel Folau, Leon Bott, Michael Buettner, Chris Armit, Dean Halatau, Isaac Luke and Luke O'Donnell. In soccer we've produced Goalkeepers Mark Schwarzer (who my uncle played with at Marconi) and Zeljko Kalac, Harry Kewell, Brett Emerton, Nick Carle, Paul Okon, Robbie Slater, Mark Bosnic, Christian Vieri, Jason Culina, Alex Brosque, Danny Vukovich, Michael Beauchamp. In Cricket we have the Australian Test and ODI Captain Michael Clarke, Doug Bollinger, Luke Doran, Ben Rohrer (both play for NSW) and Usman Khawaja.

Note: Not all were born in my area but they all played their junior sport in my area.
