JR needs to realise he has ripped the heart out of the team so he better have plan. All good and well to walk around the club smiling and dropping grenades but its also important to know where the faint beating pulse of the team is coming from. Some of his rookie head coach traits are showing.
Sure Gutho is a tad slower and his defence wasn't the best at times this year. Speed you can't fix, but we know Gutho will be better in defence next year. Most of his bad defensive reads this year was him trying to cover the bad defensive decisions of others.
Gutho was the only player that I believe bleed blue and gold. No one ever tries as much as him. His passion and love for the club was always on display. You felt just a little safer knowing Gutho was in the team to guide.
I'm not sure how the rest of the squad will react to this decision either. Gutho was pretty close to most but especially Moses.
I think Gutho feels a little heartbroken leaving and I reckon most of the fans will feel the same way.
Like I said, JR better have a big immediate plan. Enough breaking but start showing us the building!

Gutho is a professional sportsman. JR had an honest conversation and told him he couldn't commit past the next year until he saw what position Gutho would play because his body is no longer up to fullback.
Gutho has then asked to hit the market and now for an early release.
All parties agree - Guthos body isn't up to the FB position for us for more than another year. He wants to extend his career and his pay packet and who can blame him.
If Gutho bled Blue and Gold he would have stayed on unders. The reality is I don't blame him at all for not doing that.
He's a professional. This is his job. His career is short and he needs to maximise his money.
Our team will evolve. Players leave. It's not the end of the world.

what? he wasnt even offered unders. JR told him he's not wanted. probably because he knows Gutho is smarter than him, and a future parra coach if he stayed around.

That's incorrect. Gutho wanted an extension offer now. Eels said we can't do that until we see where you'll fit in under the new structure. That's when Gutho asked to be able to shop around.
At no point did the Eels say no extension will be offered. They merely said we can't offer you an extension right now.

If gutho was the heart and soul of the team then we have bigger problems than we think , and JR has not gone far enough in blowing up this squad and needs to let many more go.
tbis was a guy who was captain of the club , choosing not to see his contract through and has shown how much he gives a fuck about you all , the fans with no farewell comments
