Heart gone.

JR needs to realise he has ripped the heart out of the team so he better have plan. All good and well to walk around the club smiling and dropping grenades but its also important to know where the faint beating pulse of the team is coming from. Some of his rookie head coach traits are showing.

Sure Gutho is a tad slower and his defence wasn't the best at times this year. Speed you can't fix, but we know Gutho will be better in defence next year. Most of his bad defensive reads this year was him trying to cover the bad defensive decisions of others.

Gutho was the only player that I believe bleed blue and gold. No one ever tries as much as him. His passion and love for the club was always on display. You felt just a little safer knowing Gutho was in the team to guide.

I'm not sure how the rest of the squad will react to this decision either. Gutho was pretty close to most but especially Moses.

I think Gutho feels a little heartbroken leaving and I reckon most of the fans will feel the same way.

Like I said, JR better have a big immediate plan. Enough breaking but start showing us the building!

    • 💯 on all points, he played for his teammates and coach, certainly not the club and the fans, as I've stated recently, but all of a sudden a couple of morons indirectly call u a hater

      • If someone plays for their teamates and coach, how is he not playing for "the" fans.

Does he need to change from that profile, to remain with Parra.....after all the coach has left and who knows about his team mates..... if honesty is allowed to prevail then I think in this day and age that no player's play for the fan's.

He is maximising the end of his career......wish him well and thank you from the fans you have entertained with your grit and guts.

        Thanks Guth!

        • Absolutely agree poppa !

apparently he doesn't shake hands after games enough but most fans prefer a player who plays his guts out with intense will to win than a side by side selfie and handshake  ... well I certainly do anyway

          Each their own I guess

          • You can play with an intense will-to-win and still find time for your admirers? Think of the impact those little interactions have on our junior fan base.

            • True

though still hasn't stopped the fans voting for him as BnG fan favourite on award night many times. Guess it shows they respect his efforts.

  • Ripped the heart out of Parramatta lol.  Who Gutherson  - the person who called our club an embarrassment in negotiations?, the person who ran to the media whenever it came down to dollars? His heart was most probably always with Manly.

    Heart on the park yes

But off the park Gutherson showed who he really was. He put dollars before anything and embarrassed himself as a captain who set bad standards on how to go to the media when in contract negotiations.

I'll celebrate with a good beer tonight to farewell him.

Also, it's Gutherson's choice to take the dragons deal, he wasn’t pushed out. With his injury history who could blame him from taking guaranteed money.

So what do you want Ryles to do EAM, sign Gutherson for another two years when our team is in serious need of younger talent and Gutherson is one injury away from medical retirement?  Anyone could see his fullback days are numbered mate.

I really don't think this is a good move for Saints.

  • This isn't a situation where Ryles has come in with his whiteboard and projector Ricky Stuart style. I heard early this year Gutho was half on the outer at the eels in the sense he had been told he wouldn't be playing fullback next year and therefore his next contract offer would obviously be substantially lower. Sivo wasn't wanted by anyone at the club except Arthur toward the end of his career with us. As for RCG he was very tight with Arthur and I reckon when Arthur was punted he just wanted out of the club.

Sure Ryles could have tried to keep the players if he really wanted to but he's just rolled with it and now has a 2 million bucks war chest to spend which is a pretty good position to be in as a new coach

  • I think Gutho and us have both has come out alright

will get his full contract next season.

2 more seasons on whats rumoured to be more than he's worth on the open market.

We free up that money immediately

We need a culture shift Gutho was King and that can be part of the issue.

Gutho and RCG both were notorious for not being the best at fan engagement

new culture new players 13 of last years top 30 have left now. The money freed up fast tracks the rebuild.

A team with a chance of going deep in the finals over the next 2 Years.

    • Yeah win win situation.

  • If Gutho bled blue and gold why was his contract talk always so painful.  Sivo probably bled blue and gold more as he stated he couldn't imagine playing against the eels when told he free to look elsewhere.  He was offered contracts elsewhere but went to super league.  Gutho was ready to leave eels for highest bidder a number of times.

RTS would always be a handy player to have, but I would not chase him for the type of money he would probably get elsewhere.....Just my opinions mind you!"
