JR needs to realise he has ripped the heart out of the team so he better have plan. All good and well to walk around the club smiling and dropping grenades but its also important to know where the faint beating pulse of the team is coming from. Some of his rookie head coach traits are showing.
Sure Gutho is a tad slower and his defence wasn't the best at times this year. Speed you can't fix, but we know Gutho will be better in defence next year. Most of his bad defensive reads this year was him trying to cover the bad defensive decisions of others.
Gutho was the only player that I believe bleed blue and gold. No one ever tries as much as him. His passion and love for the club was always on display. You felt just a little safer knowing Gutho was in the team to guide.
I'm not sure how the rest of the squad will react to this decision either. Gutho was pretty close to most but especially Moses.
I think Gutho feels a little heartbroken leaving and I reckon most of the fans will feel the same way.
Like I said, JR better have a big immediate plan. Enough breaking but start showing us the building!

Silence is deafening in our household.....can't sleep a wink!
Lol Hector
Why is everyone attacking like gutho was given the boot. Gutho came to parra demanding an extension one that made zero sense, parra couldn't accommodate gutho asked to be able to talk to clubs and then asked for a release. The game has sped up so much gutho looks like he is in quicksand sometimes
As much as I think Gutho played his guts out for Parra and at times was our best on the field, I dont forget the previous prolonged negotiations which set the example for the rest of the BA era senior group. This time around its good to see the club standing firm and not just being bent over
From things I had heard swirling around the club at the time of the sacking, a lot was said by certain players about the club which, for any incoming coach makes it damn near impossible if you have a senior playing group influencing the younger guys in a negative way.
Gutho, much like RCG wanted out as their loyalty to BA outweighed their loyalty to the club. I dont begrudge them that, things happen, its professional sports and gone are the days where everyone is a one club man. Lets wait and see what November 1 brings.
This is just as much on Gutho as it is on the club. Gutho wanted to secure his future which I absolutely have no problem with. Ryles wants our side to evolve. We need a FB that can support our halves. Our halves constantly make breaks and have no support. On the flip side we make an error in attack and our opposition pick the ball up and run 90 metres. We had the slowest outside backs in the comp this year. We need change. I don't begrudge Gutho sorting out his future. However if he truly bleed blue and gold as people say, he did have a choice. He could have evolved with the side in his new role which I believe he would have excelled at and pushed for a new contract midway through the year. At the end of the day Gutho chose what's best for himself and his family and I wish him all the best except when playing against us
Gutho didn't bleed blue and gold. He loved his teammates and his coach. I never got any sense that he valued the club or the fans especially. I predict he'll be exactly the same at the Dragons. Professional absolutely so he did the job. But I never felt he bought into the culture or fabric of the club. His contracts renewals proved that.
