Great post Hugh, as the saying goes a picture is worth a thousand words - I'm convinced similar to Ivan Cleary, Jason will drag us out of the dullbrums and into a new and exciting era, somewhere along the way we lost our identity as a club now its time rediscover what makes us the Parramatta Eels! Love this pic.

i agree, i was worried i was reading too much out the article or possibly seeing what i wanted to see ;
new coach, embracing club legends. club officials going out of their way to celebrate long time fans.

Mich, big thing i mentioned for a long time is we never had an identity of what we are as a club. What does it mean to be an Eel. Not saying BA did not embrace the old history as i have no idea. But Ryles seems hellbent on embracing it and making the club link back to it also.
LB, the experience Ryles has under his belt over many years has put him in good stead in terms of really understanding how a successful team and club operate - yes it's a feel good story, but it does give an insight into what type of coach Jason will be.

Hi Mick, not sure if this shows the type of coach Ryles will be, more so the type of person he is and his vision for the club off the field. Hopefully this is the first of many steps of bringing the club and the fanbase closer together.
Agree Rusty, getting excited mate it's does show like you said the person Jason is

It's a different excitement this year. I'm always excited/hopeful of next season. The Parra mantra. But BA and recruitment would replace like for like. Ryles is changing because like for like isn't working anymore.

Ryles could fail miserably, but at least he is going out of his way to make wholesale changes, to not only the squad but the club itself. I love seeing my coach out and about.
💯 LB, it's early days who knows what's to play out but I'm getting a good feeling about Jason - I remember hearing Braith on NRL360 saying Ryles is a great prospect coaching wise and people in the same circles agree
How heartwarming was this lunch. We're heading in the right direction - towards unity - even though it's hard to expect overnight changes to all on-and-off field habits and systems.
JR just needs to perservere. And the club needs to hold strong, support him and be united in its four walls through any challenges, which I think they will.
"Iongi is definitely not the finished product. I realise it's only early days for him but he's got a few issues to work on. The dropped ball is one if he wants to be considered elite, he needs to rarely drop a bomb particularly when it's uncontested.…"
