Haynes spot in doubt?

Just watched the test and i must say Hayne seems to be the weak link in the squad.A few dropped balls and quite a few defensive errors.Sheens gave him a licence to roam but fell short of injecting himself ,i think he still seems to be in awe of those playing along side him and maybe feels like a small fish in a big pond. The media press have ran with his story of money for players and how he may not stick around,it seems like being in the camp with a few of the boys, have been whingeing in his ear.Unfortunately his game tonight doesnt warrant an increase in pay and makes him look overated, yes an increase in pay may be in order but you can see the experienced warhorse Lockyer just stays out of  it as he knows what the media is capable of.Hayne should now realise other players are nipping at his heels for his position ie,Morris boys,Lote, and even Dougan for his fullback role in NSW.I hope he can realise that we as fans watch the game for his brilliance nothing short of mindblowing proportions but being a microphone for players too scared to say anything just makes him look like a puppet on a string.I hope my words arent taken to heart and that he proves me wrong but it just felt like i wasnt watching the Jarryd Hayne that  i'm used to.

  • He dropped a bomb. Everything esle was okay. What can you do in those conditions with limited ball distribution.

Don't think he is in awe of anyone. He has smashed QLD on more than a few occassions.
  • Josh Dugan is a gun, he would have to be considered a very unlikely chance to play for NSW though.

Based on Dugan's performance in his Raiders games, and after tonight's Country performance, I would rather have Dugan in my team than Hayne- and i'm a life-long eels fan.
    • Really???

You guys would replace the NSW 2009 player of the series with a 1st grade rookie in ORIGIN??

I reckon your both kidding Tayls and joeyboy... Origin is like no other game on earth. Hayne is tried, tested and excelled.

If we are to have a chance at the series, Hayne MUST be in the #1. No doubt.
    • To be honest, Hayne has excelled at Origin level on the wing and we've all discussed Hayne's defensive weaknesses at fullback. Perhaps it would be an idea to play Dugan at 1 and Hayne on the wing. Problem is, despite Dugan's amazing ability and confidence, he's an untried kid and could get found at Origin level.

I don't rate Gidley but I anticipate the selectors will pick Gidley as captain and fullback and Hayne on the wing.
  • The way i see Hayne playing for Australia is a complete waste of his time. In every game he plays for NSW, City or Parramatta he plays a major role. But for Australia he is shunned from the attack on the wing. Let me ask you how many backline movements did the ball go to Lyon and Haynes side? About 2 maximum. Now, How many times did backline movements direct towards Inglis and Morris? At least once a set. I have simply come to the conclusion that QLD players absolutely hate Hayne. Hence why Inglis refuses to play on Haynes side and also why Hayne has had limited sucess for Australia over the past season.
    • They went to Inglis because he broke two or three tackles every time he touched the ball. The Kiwis had troubles with him all night.
    • Not sure you're quite right there ED.

Hayne's playing on the right because of a choice he made with Morris prior to the 4 nations last year. Morris was debuting and Hayne wanted him to feel comfortable, so he gave him the choice.

I don't think anyone hates Hayne at all. I think they go to Inglis because the guy is the best player in the world. As evidenced last night, the guy makes international footy look like he's playing U20's. If there was a level above Test football, he would be in it. Junior Sau and the whole Kiwi backline got owned by Inglis last night - looked like he was playing against 12 yr olds....

I wouldn't read into it too far mate.
    • Inglis is a 1 man team. He rarely passes the ball and usually it's only after the go alone option hasn't worked.
  • I can't say i agree with you, but this is sure to spark some debate.

Have we forgotten what Haynesy did last year already ? He's been going strong this year, although it might not show like it did last year through linebreaks and tries. For my mind, he's shown nothing to suggest he won't be there at origin time.

Tom Humble for Queensland anyone ?
  • Tough conditions, and a pretty hard game to inject yourself into. Hayne will be starting in Origin 1.

The reason he wasnt the Jarryd Hayne you are used to watching is because a) he was playing on the wing b) he saw limited ball c) wet conditions.
I dont think Hayne is confident at this stage of his career to usurp the direction of Lockyer, Smith etc. They run the show in the Aussie team.
