  • NRL blame Talagi for "tripping" Liam Martin causing him to collide into Asi....
    (13 minutes 30 seconds)

    • Lol ok, that's a new one

  • I am happy with the decision making principle that was used but was asked but is it the right call to which he would not answer. No wonder the referees are stuffing up every week when a blatant obstruction is not called. He used the words it was not a deliberate obstruction but and accidental obstruction. What an absolute joke he needs to be shacked and the club need to take. I do not care whether it is inside or outside shoulder if you take them out you obstruct. As the lead runner it is your job to avoid all contact unless the defender tackles you.

    • The "intention" part is hilarious. It's such stupid flawed logic and the fact that no one questioned him on it shows that these sessions are just a media stunt to pretend like there's accountability. One ounce of scrutiny on that decision and his logic falls apart...why are no other rules adjudicated based on intent? Because it's not a thing.

      • Couldn't agree more Captain

For all the good PVL has done for the game he has done just as much damage.

      • 100% Agree Captain. The outcome of that collission by Martin with Asi was not considered by the bunker. Regardless it was an accident or intentional, that collission denies Asi to close the gap and make a cover tackle on Laurie. Besides, there was no contact from Blaise, it was Martin who stepped on Blaise foot.

  • What about the strip and the try that came off the offside, new rules every week

  • Lol...what?

"The feet collide". You mean Martin runs onto Blaize's foot (even then it was just SUPER slight if at all) so Martin hurled himself into Asi.

Blaize didn't move his foot at all.

So now we can just trip into an opposing player to create an overlap? Cool.

Honestly...this is just a joke. The lead runner took out a defender who was aiming to shut down a try. He was impeded. They scored a try as a result.

Then Annesley said something exceptionally stupid: intention. It wasn't Martin's intent to obstruct the play. Oh, well that is fine. So unless you intend to break the rules you shouldn't be penalised - thanks Graham.

Knock ons now only count if you intended to knock on. High shots only count if you intend to hit high.

The NRLs rules are honestly such a joke at this point. It's like a bunch of drunk guys making up rules to a boardgame as they're playing it. "Oh look at his feet, the feed collide". Absolutely absurd. It's things like this that really make me despise the game - especially as you can tell Annesley knows this isn't defensible...he says it over and over "I know people will disagree with this". I'm dumbfounded but not surprised.

    • I like the boardgame analogy, it looks like Penrith held onto their "Accidental" card in their deck so they could use it at the end of the game.

He never ever takes accountability and admits any of these frankly obvious calls against Parra, are wrong.

  • What this bullshit allows is no accountability for the referees and therefore does not allow them to learn from their errors and improve as referees.

It's like your kid getting a maths problem wrong and you not correcting them and explaining why they are wrong so they don't get it wrong in the future or even worse a major exam (ie the grand final)

I truly hope that a favoured team like Melbourne, Panthers or the Roosters cope really bad call like this in a finals game to knock them out.

Only then will we see some accountability and hopefully Annesley loses his job

    Fucking weak
