You can see the attacking upside. He will learn that this team is built around Moses. If he demands the ball you don't even think otherwise. You give it to him. Defensively as we have all said he needs a pre season. As you also said, look how much our rookies have progressed throughout the year. You would back JR to do the same
Da Silva to be fair was not too bad in defence as many here thought when he entered the field. He just cried to hard to impress and as Ennis said no need the take step out of dummy half, pass off the floor. Though I see Da Silva having more flair than Smith eventually, Smith is that Brandon Smith type and wonder if Ryles has him put on around 5-7 kgs.
I hope he doesn't ask that of Ryley LB I love the player he's turning into as a hooker.I don't see Smith becoming that space player Walker is and his running game isn't there right now either.
What is there is his game around hooker is improving out of sight on a weekly basis he's adding nuance round the ruck and if he adds that kicking game I find it hard to see anyone removing him as of yet.
I leave Smith where he is and let TDS catch-up if he can because right now with Smith on we look a whole lot better with the ball and defensively it's a KO to Smith.
Whats on TDS's side is youth there's no rush he can continue to build his game and be the understudy. He has flair he has a running game but for right now and near future I'm not trying to change smith into a 13 I'm not he's coming on in leaps and bounds at dummy half let him continue to grow there.
I find it strange that you compare Ryley Smith to a Brandon Smith type player where I see TDS as more a Brandon Smith type player. Ryley is a natural 9, Brandon smith is not yet he has a very robust running game which is what I see in TDS
I think he'll take a lot out of today's game. He'll be right once he calms down a bit and gets used to our style of play. He looked a bit lost a few times when the tempo increased.

He'll come good. He has a great running game and is a little more creative and crafty at hooker, where as Ryley is a workhouse. It's a great combo to have.
I said it before he signed mid year. He needed the off season to learn our systems and to adjust his game accordingly, hence the importance of him coming off the bench this year.
Da Silva has eyes up flair more than set play technique at present and knowing how much he wants to succeed, he will find that balance in 2026.
It's all on Ryles to work on his middle rotation strategies from the start to completion of games. At present it's a work in progress and I believe that Smith covers our defensive middle deficiencies quite well starting games at present.
As Coryn eluded to, having JDB next year will ease pressures on how our defensive middle is losing the ruck at certain stages in games.
"100 the system is the key and lifting the floor ie depth goes right behind it.
Thats what JR is building you can see the ball movement hasn't stopped results regardless this is becoming the automated norm.We are in the programming stage auto mating…"
"That's total bullshit Wiz. He was close to signing with us but, he asked his old man what to do, and he said stay. From what I've been told, he is staying on the coast."
