Wouldn't take Mahoney if he was free
I'd take him if he was free. But I also would take him with a contract but wouldn't be paying him remotley what we offered him last time . Him coming back on a substantially less salary is enough to rub his nose in it for me and hopefully humble him a bit. Moses now being captain should also be enough to sort out Mahoneys attitude wheras he was ignoring Moses's calls for the ball.

I would take Mahoney. Put aside that he left for a year and $150k more a season, he is a quality Hooker. The best pass in the comp at the position. He is creative when given the chance. Smith i have always said is a lot cleaner in defence than Mahoney who can get clumsy as he gets aggressive but i also want that in our team.
I would be fine with Smith for 2026, but i also would be fine with Mahoney coming back.
But you are right for a lesser deal but with Dogs moving him on they would need to pitch in despite Gus claiming it was their choice to look elsewhere to change the narrative. He is on $650k reported for 2026, we should only pay $250-300k max.

Carrigan would be excellent. I think his on 800k. Tino must have wanted too much. Carrigan and fifita would be good. Then liddle and centres/ utility backs. Plenty of depth options. Wests v dogs had about 12 ex first graders playing. We need middles and centres now.

I can't see Carrigan leaving Brisbane and Mahoney, yeah maybe... but another 9 shouldn't be prioirity right now
