Forward Pack Ratings

I was listening to Scott Sattler and Matt Rogers tonight, who rated their top eight forward packs on paper for next year. Neither of them rated our pack in the top eight. They even made specific mention of RCG now at the Titans. Yes, he is gone, get over it as I will be told and so be it. Our forwards were imo our strength for the past four of five years. Yes, they could both be proven wrong and I hope they are , but for our pack to not to be rated in the top 8 by two experienced subject matter experts is worrying.  I don't perceive bias from either of these guys. I hope this stuff motivates the forward pack to prove them all wrong.  The modern game needs impact forwards and a pack that endlessly hunts in defence. I always rated our pack and was surprised to see them not even mentioned in the top eight packs.

  • When we lost our forwards got beaten up

Either with low impact in attack

Most telling was how ineffective in defence we where at our best our pack was good the game has sped up and our big pack got found out.

In the big games Paulo consistently lost his battles so based on that I think it's reasonable to suggest that we shouldn't be rated high at this point

    • So would it be a fair assessment that Junior was the over paid and non performing forward that should have been released?

      • He had two years left on $900k or RCG one year left on less and wants to go. Who is easier to get rid of? Can't just go to Paulo and say "you're gone" and he goes.

      • That wasn't  a option.

      • Yep but I reckon be hard yo find a taker for him

  • It's going to be interesting to see how the Titans go.

Theres been a huge trend in the game for mobile forwards . Penrith led the charge with Leota and Fish and an ex edge in Yeo playing 13. The game has got really fast and slower forward packs are being left behind ( see us and Souths 2024 ) . Titans have a huge pack and added RCG. It honestly could make or break them . If it breaks them the same blokes that ranked them 1 this year will b staying they're rubbish next year. That's how the rugby league media works .

On paper Titans look like a side that will be good with possession and horrible without it . Story of their lives .

    • That Pahulu theory is wild but.

      • Even more wild Gus is first to get wind of whats going on at a number of clubs. Got to have more contacts across the game than anyone else that bloke.

      • What's the theory?

  • Bulldogs pack would of ranked 17th last year. I don't really care what they say tbh
