The NRL have carefully revealed Mam proposed suspension on Christmas eve with many news outlets turning off comments on their stories.  Media really helping broncos, Mam and NRL on this one.

I wonder if they were worried about comments about 1 more week then Leniu for calling Mam a name, 2 more weeks then Dylan Browns suspension for drunkenly touching someone.

Mam drove under suspension with drugs in his system.  He has lengthy driving history of driving unlicensed as he lost his license a number of times. He physically hurt people including a child after recklessly driving including a young child with fractured hip.

Rules are just different for some clubs.  They will probably ask for the indigenous round to count like JAC and Mitchell so effectively a 8 week suspension and back round 9.

  • Difference is FM, he is indigenous, a great player and could have mental health. I am of Indigenous descent too and I think it is ridiculous. Many won't want to mention it but it is a factor. I will get hated on for saying it, I will cop it but I know myself being of Indigenous descent, being involved with various groups stuff like this happens.

    • Definitely part of it.  Looking at his driving history license suspended 3 times before 21 it isn't like he doesn't know better.  Considering NRL take I to account injuries and prior form for on field suspensions why not off field suspensions.

I feel sorry for next player to step out of line as there will be massive backlash for this then NRL will react, unless it indigenous player, bronco player or both.

      • "next player to step out of line as there will be massive backlash for this"

        Paging Dylboob and Jac

    • LB, mate are you being serious? Every second person it seems who gets in strife claims some mental health issues. Facts are facts mate and we need to fake the race card out of these incidents- he's paid v well and if he was old Joe Blow he'd in much more strife.

If NRL had balls they'd stand him down for at least 4 months

      • Mitch upon re reading my response, i could see how it could come across as different to what i was referring to. I am on your side, saying he would use those cards and he should not, at all. The media will not say it has anything to do with race but it sure does play a huge part.

In summarisation and taking sarcasm out of it, the media, NRL and courts will see him as an Aboriginal and history of mental health as a risk to a heavy cram down. The NRL are idiots but at same time their hands were tied with QLD courts who were worse. Everyone can claim mental health and nothing anyone can do about it and it is a shame for those who actually do suffer from serious mental health issues.

        • Appreciate the response LB; the NRL could and should make it simple - treat the case as is, and look at his history as he has no fckn licence and could have killed someone. The game promotes all this self righteous models yet here we are possibly going to see a disgraceful act again by the NRL

  • Agree FM. There are different laws and rules for everyone it seems.

Mam hurt a kid and actually put the life of persons with his drink/ drug driving.

But as always, money and commercialism beats lady justice and logic.

    • For an organistion that always demands Players do not bring the NRL into disrepute and warn of severe penalties if they do, we can now witness they only follow thru .........sometimes!

Mam had to be out for a year it was that serious a crime.

Instead the NRL would have us believe they've been just.

We can see clubs like the Broncos and roosters get more consideration than the rest of the clubs, and far better treatment.

If this verdict was handed down in a courtroom an immediate appeal would be lodged!

Fairness....Who do these guys think they're fooling?

      • "If this verdict was handed down in a courtroom an immediate appeal would be lodged!"

Nope.  $800 no conviction. No appeal

Court would have given him a fortnight and included trial games

        • You don't realise Iwas referring to the decision of the NRL Randy?

"Look BA had his time and for me he did a lot of good stuff during the cap era, and for me showed too much loyalty to some players. There were also rumblings he did not get along with MON and co and hey this probably was close to the mark, who knows.…"

"There was someone on fb who commented that if we win a comp in next 5 years BA should get some credit for laying foundations. Well that's not happening with how much Ryles has gutted the joint, for good.
This is not a Kevin Walters situation."
