A Club statement from the Parramatta Leagues' Club CEO

On 20 September 2024, the Club received a requisition from a group of members to convene an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), made pursuant to clause 6.3 of the Club’s Constitution and section 203D of the Corporations Act, for which five resolutions are to be proposed including resolutions to remove 4 of the Club’s 7 directors.

The Board has today resolved to call this Extraordinary General Meeting which will be held on Tuesday 19 November 2024 at 7pm and put those resolutions to the Club’s members.

Members will receive the Notice of EGM and voting packs in due course.

Kind regards,

Chris Dimou
By order of the Board

  • Oh wow

  • For someone with no knowledge of any of this cause i am dumb can someone summarise what this means?

    • It means that no 1EE members are eligble because as they don't pass the IQ Test......only exceptions are Hoe, Daz and NOS, everyone else has failed.

      • I see, welll articulated hahaha

      • lol make Parra great again or what ever it is

    • An EGM is a facility to force a Board to call an out of cycle meeting to address some matter - typically in the form of a vote.

This EGM was triggered by a (dumb) proposal to remove 4 of the 7 current Leagues Club Board members. But given that it has the required signatures it has to be done by law.

The resolutions are stupid and will fail.

Why do this then? Because this isn't intended to succeed. It's intended to destabilise the club and the board, to cause disunity with voting members, and (this is my assumption) to make the club spend needless funds on an EGM (these are expensive to hold).

In short - this is a move by people (ex director and co) with an axe to grind capitalising on a poor season by the Eels to cause drama. It will achieve nothing good but probably will give the Eels bad press.

      • You know this is extraordinary with The Captain being concerned that a move by the membership will give the club bad press and the cost of an AGM when there is  no reference or discussion to the cost of legal services that the club regularly pursues, With bad press does the Captain really think that the Eels membership in showing its concern will override the damage done to the Eels over the Brad Arthur Debacle and the time it took to appoint a new coach. Does he really think the EGM will override the bad press the Club has got from telling the Club Player of The Year in Reagan-Campbell ( Freddie Mercury) to take a walk letting the Clubs Rookie of the Year go to Penrith to telling Gutho he too can take walk if he  likes. I dont think so,

I think if anything the members standing up and saying they want better will be positive for the club not a negative.

As we all know in life there are 3 types of individuals. Those who are concerned but are timid about standing up with a voice as they fear that will hurt them  so it is " if it aint broke dont fix it" approach  For the Eels that is like somebody sitting on the deck of the Titanic saying be calm it is only raining. And there are those who fear change mainly because they dont understand the current situation let alone something new.

And then there are those with the strength of their convictions to have a go to achieve what is right. Where would the Rabbitohs be now without the efforts of George Piggins. Or womens, girls, ladies sport in League, Cricket, Soccera and a world full other sports if it had been for the great spokespersons who to a stand for a fair go, equal opportunity.

In life their is a time to let the world go by but also there is a time to stand up to be counted.

To me there are so many issues  from managerial leadership, accountability, performance, consitutional and membership treatment that one could go on for hours but I wont.

Best to say  that the Parra NRL Club is wholly owned by the Parra Leagues Club, that is, the Leagues Club membership, It is the Leagues Club which created and in a very true sense manages the NRL Club, albeit it is a separate legal entity.

In that vein I think it is highly relevant to the disrespect that the Licensed Club membership is being subject to, that Ronald Donald McDuck is willing to put in writing to only the NRL membership, a letter attacking members of the Licensed Club. This is extraordinary. It is none of his business how the membership of the Licensed Club want the club to be managed. His letter in my mind is defaming members of the Leagues Club and I truly  hope he is brought to account for those comments.

Among a range of contradictions from the Club Constitution, which the Administrator Donnelly and his Assistant Mr Sarantinos put in place, is the provision that the Board was not to get any allowance being paid to them as they would be performing those roles for their love of the Club. Well look at the resolution the Board now present to the membership at the yearly AGM. Allowances for the Directors. It just seems to me that the executive leaderships and Boards of both the NRL and Leagues Club are now taking well healed money for their involvment but at the same time disrespecting us the Members.

Logic and Balanced Analysis on  the Clubs issies to me only point in one Direction. The EGM is required and the Resolutions should be carried.

In an aside, can anybody advise who owns or operates the 1EE. It is percieved that this is the Offcial Social Media site of the Eels when it is not. Just curious noting the advertising sponsorships on this site, just who gains the financial benefit from our involvment here.

Cheers and see you at the EGM.

        • Trying to sew discontent amongst the site members, are you?

The fact that this site is perceived as anything other than an open public fan forum is purely due to the quality of the contributors on here. The ownership is well known and probably Googleable.

          • Badge, thanks for your response to a fool like me.

If the ownership of this site is "well known" can you please advise who is/are the "well known" owners/managers ?

Also the 1 Eyed Eel is not registered in ACSIC in any form. So your advice on the ownership would be very much appreciated.

Also re this site being perceived as the EELS Official Social media site due to the "quality of the contributors", leads me to ask the common community thoughts at the moment....Do you have Touretts Disease ?

            • Is it a requirement for an owner of a supporter forum to register with ASIC?
