A Club statement from the Parramatta Leagues' Club CEO

On 20 September 2024, the Club received a requisition from a group of members to convene an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), made pursuant to clause 6.3 of the Club’s Constitution and section 203D of the Corporations Act, for which five resolutions are to be proposed including resolutions to remove 4 of the Club’s 7 directors.

The Board has today resolved to call this Extraordinary General Meeting which will be held on Tuesday 19 November 2024 at 7pm and put those resolutions to the Club’s members.

Members will receive the Notice of EGM and voting packs in due course.

Kind regards,

Chris Dimou

            • Captain, what worries me are the potential consequences.

Beyond bogging the club down and its resources, if one or more of Roy's proxy minions eventually get onto the Leagues' Board (there are a few hundred Flying Monkeys from the Pizza guy to the security guard) at the next AGM, who knows what nefarious mischief they'll get up to.

Even if the Nominations Committee aren't blind to let Roy's proxy minions near the footy board, who knows. It could be destabilizing, sabotaging, with leak-a-thons and whatnot.

No-one wants a scheming snake living in their own home, sharing the dining room table full-time. Not even one.

Let's hope the EGM flops or otherwise none of them are qualified enough to meet the selection criteria when voting time comes at the next AGM.

PS: No-one is claiming we are a club without problems. But you can see the attitude of these blokes. They're on a crazed mission. But their rhetoric is not backed up with enough facts or figures. And are actually illogical. For example, the chap on here says "Monaghan/Sim" are worse than the worst (Roy and Sharp). And yet the five EGM resolutions aren't even calling for the removal of those two on the Leagues board. Not to mention, ignoring Roy and Sharp almost destroyed the club in six years at the helm. It's like the left leg, doesn't know what the right leg is doing. Imagine if you get just one of them in there. It's like a re-run of Walking Dead.

  • Roy and his cronies need to move on. As HoE already revealed, this is all Roy's doing. He needs to accept he is no longer in power at Parramatta. This is a multi million dollar business and the last time he was on charge things were going downhill fast.

His leadership oversaw 2 wooden spoons. So how can he say things would be better under him? His own track record is deplorable. Regardless of the fact the league's club is separate to the football club and football club directors are appointed by a nominations committee.

    • And none of these resolutions have anything to do with the nominations committee construct - therefore they're clearly not genuine and just there to stir shit.

Surely Roy has enough wooden spoons. I'm happy to head to Kmart and pitch in for a few more if it'd save him the trouble.

    • So Super,  are you saying in no , way , shape or form can the leagues club influence the football club appointments or decisions ? So like it's absaloute and totally autonomous?

      • I'm not privy to the machinations of the PLC and PNRL leadership. But constitutionally, the PNRL is run separately for the most part, save the 2 appointed PLC board members.

Can their be influence? Sure. The Leagues Club exists to support the NRL club and always has. But the same level of influence there once was? No.

      • Here's the thing Wiz, if the concern is with the PNRL Club (structure, constitution, performance) then why aren't the League's Club EGM resolutions to do with that? Or the Nominations Committee? Or the level of dependence between the two entities? Those would be great questions for an AGM, or conversations with the board members, or our administration - all who absolutely answer questions and listen to advice as many of us who have tried those routes will attest to.

But this mob ain't doing any of thst. It's simply "boot out these people".

It's a power grab that aims to solve nothing. If these people wanted real change they'd address the problems (of which there are some) instead of just "replace the current people with our failed ex director".

I actually don't know how anyone can truly look at this and keep a straight face.

And as for bias - I am absolutely biased. I want the Eels to be a football powerhouse. Massively biased in that regard. So I get pretty worked up and passionate when I see selfishness and spite driving individuals to try and take away all the improvements the club has managed to build over these last years.

End rant. I need to go lie down. 😂

        • Mate I think we know exactly what the motives are of this mob. I'm not silly , been around and seen it all over the years so you don't need to convince me , I'm already on the team . Fuck I was front and centre here and on League Unlimted campaigning for Roy's removal waaay before he was even the bad guy.  I was booted from League Unlimted numerous times for calling Roy out .  I've never been one for the popular opinion ( shock horror ) I call what I see and I saw through Roy and Ossie very early in the piece when he was still quite popular on both sites,  in fact , my objections to these guys was the beginning of my rift with one Tony Bongo .

So yeah , I get it . But I also like noise when we aren't performing and I object to the current administrators not acting on poor performers under their power. They should not be sitting in safe seats and enjoying their jobs . If they were doing their jobs then Spagbowl would've simply been laughed at when he tried to rally support .

        • Captain,

Your response here, with respect, simply shows you do not understand the structure of the Club under the Donnelly/Sorentinos Constitutions of the Eels. Gee I hope that you are not a member of either board or officer of one of the two clubs. But then again you probably are which explains why the Eels are so stuffed.

I did not come onto this site to justify my viewpoints to you. Who are you to think you have such a lofty position that people have to account to you for their views.

I see your views as they are, and I dont seek justification from you for them.

And I simply respond to your stated views.

          • Please do tell me the error of my understanding - very keen to hear.

I've been on many committees and boards and currently sit on several NFP committees (I don't have the time to serve any directorships currently) however I have zero involvement in the Eels boards, nor have I ever. I'm a member with a deep interest in the success of our club because I've been an Eels tragic since birth - no more and no less.

But it just so happens that my professional career means I'm also incredibly well versed in business administration, boards and corporate governance of all sizes from small not for profits to literally sitting on board committees for billion dollar companies (yes that narrows it quite a lot in Australia). I'm very comfortable with my knowledge in this area...and more than happy to go toe to toe, so please tell me where I've got it wrong.

What's interesting is you still haven't answered the questions put to you. I really, really hope you're not responding in any official capacity for those who are running this tilt because, to be brutally blunt, you're sinking the ship pretty successfully on a public forum full of fans and members.

But hey, sunlight is the best disinfectant so please keep replying!

For anyone reading - take note of the calibre of individual steering this ship and ask yourself...is this really who you'd hand the keys to?

  • So, who's jobs are safe and who's arent?
