ex nrl players turn referees ?

Yeah like the rest of you one eyed eeler's .. iam also a little deflated today . No doubt B.A will sift every ones individuals performance come video time etc.etc.. but for the love of god & my sanity we are seeing every week . In other matches penalties given or decisions made by this so called bunker that are . Well at times not agreeable . Mainly around the ruck or playing the ball . Getting tackle is the area iam trying to make a point here .. a player gets tackled then he tries to milk a penalty by getting himself tangled up with that defender or the area call the obstruction rule whether there is milking . Taking a dive . From a harmless arm or the crusher ... these penalties given for excellent drama queens can now orgastrate the shape of the game.. to help the referees i like to see the nrl employ ex top grade nrl players to become on field refs mainly because they are acustom to the players positional body language they are in may it be defending or attacking.no matter how fit these defenders are sometimes they can not get off someone in a eyeblink especially if that tackeled attacker can put arms and legs every which way to restrict and milk a penalty or to really know running 10 k per hr you cannot stop on a dime therefore you caused an obstruction. . They've had to play top line footy to really understand the momentum and real body language they show . But anyway lets dust ourselves off and prepare for hasler's corgi's & poddles

  • The biggest problem imo are penalties in the play the ball. It's the rule that all in the hands of the refs and can decide a match. Often have two teams getting of the tackle with the same timing but one team gets the penalty. They allowed the flop back in the game about 10yrs ago which killed the play the ball. If they stop the flop. Cameron smith and co do it every game as the 3rd man in. If the NRL stop this then refs can referee this part of the game slightly better. At the moment it's basically like a strip which is basically a coin toss.
  • That's why you shouldn't be able to kick for touch of a discretionary penalty. It gives you too big an advantage when 6 again will suffice.
  • They tried that. Luke Patton is in the bunker and he is responsible for some of THE worst decisions I've seen. The only way they can fix this is they make the referees accountable. I don't care if we have a revolving door of referees for 2 years. This bullshit of players make mistakes too is a load of crap. Players are accountable to their coach and will find themselves in Wenty if they keep making mistakes. (Unless the ridiculous salary cap prevents this)
Referees need to know that if they stuff up they lose their job simple. Stop defending them and start making them accountable like every other person in society. It's not like referees are underpaid anymore
    • Take the fact that he is bung eye away, his record as video ref speaks for itself. He is absolutely one of the worst. I like the bunker, I like the fact that they explain themselves through the process, I hate that they still have the same "dopes" in charge! After the debacle against Penrith when the bunker intervened which was a massive call in the context of the match, why hasn't there been scrutiny on these dopes as to why they haven't intervened the 100 other times there has been an obvious stuff up on field.
  • Luke Patton and Henry Perenara

The problem with top line ex-players becoming refs is that they still need to run around. Most top players retire because their bodies can't take it anymore. Players who aren't that good retire when they have been replaced by somebody else. Think of all those knees and ankles after a solid playing career.

You would also have the team bias factor talked about. Are you giving the opposition too many penalties so you don't seem biased? Are you giving your ex-team penalties because you are biased?
