It looks like everyone's Electricity bill will rise by at least 40% from 1st of July this year. I've noticed that mine went up from a flat rate of 29c per klw to something like 40c, they stating that wholesale prices are rising & some bs about extreme weather wtf, and infrastructure upgrades.
I've shopped around on the net yesterday and found prices as cheap as 29c to 33c
The daily charges also went up from 70c to 121c, almost double mother fkrs.
Anyways, all the best in finding better deals.
It looks like inflation will go through the roof aswell, as major companies aren't going to absorb these price rises easily.

Those fools that sold our poles & cables to private companies are to blame. No private sector is there for the people.
If we had a time machine we could go back to those free market idealogues in the 1990's and transport them to 2025 and unless they are completely captured goons they would surely say "yeah maybe made the wrong call"?
Regulated monopolies in electricity transmission and distribution (poles + wires)? Deregulating the retail side (gas/electricity supply + working with consumers)? The latter has just bred complex and misleading offers and basically no pricing innovation at all (we could have got "$5 off if you pay on time" from a first year econ student without blowing up regulation to do it).
I cannot recall exact figures but one study a few years ago noted that down here in Victoria, where Jeff Bonehead Kennett led the privatization charge, Kennett had sold off VIC's electricity assets for something like $20 billion but utilties now make that (adjusted) figure off consumers. Basically selling off an income stream so some corporation avoiding tax can make super profits off exploited customers who can't go elsewhere. Just frikkin dumb.
I thought it was crazy when they privatized the transmission lines, something I believe should remain run by the state. But normally the private sector reduces prices compared to government run business.
Daz, not to call you a liar, but can you show which Victorian utilities are making $20Billion (I assume you mean annually) from the electricty market?
Also, I agree that the current gas cartel is a huge issue, and Australians in general are getting ripped off with the current arrangement. Why don't the current Labor government do something to fix it? They seem happy to give us all $75 a quarter to look like the good guys, but not so keen to fix the underlying issue.
The current governemt who stood there and sold themselves on lowering our electricity prices and then just swing around and treat us like the special guests at their bukakes when we get told it's going up again ? That Labor government that all who voted for them will sit quietly and pretend they didn't hear them break yet another promise ?,,

The losers in this country are the hard working non government employed , non indigenous claiming , tax paying families. How anyone in this catagory can not be centre to right of centre leaning astounds me .
