19th November 2024
Tonight’s EGM did not take place. Under 7.1 Part A of the Constitution, the conveners of the meeting required 100 voting members of the club to be present for a quorum and for the meeting to proceed. By 7.15pm there were insufficient voting members present and as such the EGM was dissolved by operation of the constitution, and no resolutions were passed.
All existing directors will continue to serve the Club and it’s members.
The votes as at close of Ballot 5pm Monday 18th November, counted by the Club’s Returning Officer Computershare, are detailed below.
For further information read the EGM outcomes including its costs which are over $400,000.

After all that, the members who demanded this EGM couldn't even be bothered to show up. Their resolutions did not pass. This farce cost our club many thousands of dollars. Absolutely pathetic.
Mutts, I think it's cost the club hundreds of thousands (300K plus) from what I understand and chewed up a mountain of time. And this mob didn't have the balls to show up. Couldn't bother. Roy's and his people are wasting their life and the club's on nonsense.
How much do you think it cost to pay Brad Arthur out.? Let's not pretend the current mob are the pillar of cost management. If it gets the board looking over their shoulders and doing better then it's 300k ( allegedly) well spent.
Could be the best thing that's happened from a management perspective in 5 years. 300k is a pittance if it means they're on notice, it will be recouped in no time if they make better choices due ot this little wake up call.
I'm not sure keeping Arthur on for the remainder of his contract would've been a genius move. Sure, some players & fans "loved him" & would die for him, but it didn't seem to translate well to reality.
PS: I think the EGM is allegedly "over" 300K. But Roy's probably cost the club millions in litigation and time lost in his nonsense for over a decade since he was ousted. Not sure this will be the end.
Maybe , but that doesn't change the fact it was done and it was a huge chunk of change due to poor management of his contract .
It's all hero hindsight & hypotheticals now, but what would've you have done?
Kept BA until 2025, saving money? No way I would have. I'm happy the club didn't either.
Maybe you wouldn't have extended him till 2025 (at the beginning of 2023 after the grand final)? But I think we had a club option from memory (perhaps KPI linked to the GF).
"Thanks mate for the GF and last 4 years, but we're not sure about the future with you. Who knows right..."
Or maybe we should have a "let's play it by ear" year by year extension from get go? Pretty unrealistic.
PS: Do you think signing Ryles to 4 years - a symbolic "we back you" - is a mistake? I don't think BA ever got a 4-year contract. It started as a 3-year (Sharp) and then got extended in 2 years intervals until the last 3-year contract (following administrations).
The point is , what they did ended up being wrong and costing plenty over half a mil. It's not our job to decide the best option, that's why they are there and they get to wear the error. At the end of the day , you can't complain about whatever this cost but be fine with what that cost. 300k is a bit of a stretch wherever that came from, we took our entire state workforce to QLD for a week and it didn't hit 300k , I've arranged national seminars that didn't cost 300k , I highly doubt this came within anything remotely close , even if the club would love everyone to believe the big bad wolf cost us that amount. ,
Okay, so in your view, the club "erred" to terminate BA as well as defend its legal right to keep Roy out of the boards - as they lost money.
And yet, it's good for the club to lose money & an inordinate amount of time & resources on this EGM on a mob that doesn't have the balls to show up. To keep the club on its toes or whatever it was...
I don't get that logic much or its constructive pragmatism. I suppose that's the beauty of life: we all have differing perspectives.
Wiz you were right: 300K was a bit out. The EGM cost over $400K.
With club lovers like Roy and his fan club, who needs enemies.
A break down of costs I'm sure will never be available for our viewing's . You don't think that's a little far fetched ? Logically it's ridiculous. Would this mean these guys ran out and hired the most expensive lawyers that money could buy to defend their own interests ? So many questions if this was the actual money spent. And it kinda all falls with the current guys who ultimately were the ones that spent an abcene amount of money if true . Spags and co spent their own money ( or funds raised on their behalf )
