Eels will be heavy favourites next week.

Probably the first game this year we are expected to win and win comfortably. Will be a real test for Ryles to make sure complacency doesn't kick in and we still play a good game. Cowboys look terrible at the moment but we can't just expect to show up and win.

  • It's a danger game as though NQ cannot defend they can also easily put points on, if we defend like we did v Melbourne we win.

But if I was Ryles use this as a we win no spoon game. If Titans beat Souths beforehand but 1 we are below them.

    • With how bad we have been for most of the year I'd hope we aren't complacent at all. Should know what it feels like to lose most weeks and need to put them to the sword

      • Had we beaten Melbourne I could see complacency but since Ryles was annoyed that we lost it ourselves they didn't beat us he could have them up.

        • He was pretty annoyed haha, all the pats on the back from the media is worrying but. But as long as Moses keeps them focused we should really put them away easily

          • Nah it's Ryles and the staff that they'll listen to. Frankly I'm surprised with the performance on Thursday night. Thought they would have had a go early then fall late but hung there for nearly the full 80.

Ryles saying we lost it they didn't beat us is a good sign. It could have been we lost to a better team, no standards are higher now.

            • Moses was pretty ticked off to, standards are definitely we have to win games right now. No excuses

              • Yeah he did seem pretty pissed, he's over all this green shoots talks and just wants to win as said in the postgame. Honestly he could force the club the club to make some signings and possibly a developed five-eight to partner him, he needs some pressure taken of him. Hopefully they go and find someone, Doueihi just smashed the dogs and tigers and Dragons want him at lock instead of halves.

                • Jayden Campbell at 6 is the dream

  • We probably will be, BUT this is the next test for Ryles and this group of players.

Everyone knows we're improving. Including our own players, but now how do they handle the pressure of being favourites? Do they get cocky and underestimate opponents, start missing on the basics for lack of focus, or do they crumble under pressure of being favourites and expected to perform?

I'm sure we'll fail some of these tests next 12 months or so, and it's Ryles job to regulate that and improve the mentality of the team, not just their skill and tactics.

I'm loving this group, but we're entering the business end of their development now .

    • For sure, the senior players like Moses and Junz should lead the way and earn the right to play expansive footy. If they come out and just start throwing it around playing touch footy we will be in trouble.

"NQ quick play the ball and speed in changing their passing angles worries me. Hopefully our forwards will be quick enough to get back up after making a tackle. If not, they might run around us. As much as possible, let Ryley do the kick pressure…"

"Possibly Pezet as Ryles and Braith are very good friends and he's trying to find a new club for his player. Tino I don't know Eels haven't signed a player of that calibre in a while "
