Schiller's highlights show him playing both right centre and left wing. Fairly fast (many long range tries), tall (aerial threat; highlights have tries from catching kicks), and quite a large frame for such a tall and fast outside back.
Given the Eels have almost no depth in the outside backs, a big, tall and fast outside back who has first grade experience (multiple clubs) and can play either side of the field seems a good buy. A bit of a journeyman across multiple clubs so obviously there is some issue leading to him not nailing down a permanent first grade spot.

When you look at Newcastle's outside backs you can see why he didn't get much first grade this year. Ryles and his coaches have shown an ability to improve a player if they apply themselves. Brian Kelly this season, alongside Jordan Samrani and Ronald Volkman have all improved under our coaching staff.
You also know Ryles will give him a decent crack to show if he's first grade standard.
He's got some speed and he has a good frame.. Very similar player to Samrani. Good depth signing that'll be able to challenge for a wing or centre position
So I could only guess Schiller is a depth signing as our ridiculous football program hasn't developed a rep quality outside back since Jamie Lyon.... (yes I am exaggerating)
