Mmmm not sure on that. We are have very limited depth in backfield and Samrani's versatility as a Centre and Winger is important to our depth.
But also if he can play full-time FG then good on him.
LB, you disagree a bit with whom we target and what we will pay, which confuses me at times.If you had 1 target, Who would you target and what would you be prepared to pay and give to make it happen. Its cool if you don't want to answer, to me Samarani is a depth signing, if we listen to our experts in the know, we have a lot of depth signings making there way up from the juniors reps. Not many state of origin props around.
It's not so much Barnett, I've made it known that with De Belin and Paulo I feel our middles are too old. If De Belin or Paulo move on I'm more open to Barnett and would like him. I also have not had an issue with the cost, I think the average for Barnett of around $850k is fine.
I was happy we targeted Keaon, i was happy they chased Galvin and chased Da Silva. So not sure where you get the idea that i am against a lot of who we target. I am concerned with age and coming off an ACL for Barnett too.
In this case, I am not sure we are in the position to weaken our back depth. As if either Russell, JAC, Kelly, Simonsson or Penisini long term and Samrani is gone next off the rank is Tago. Under him nobody really stands out.
Depth is so important and I feel better with our forwards depth than our backs depth is all.
I'm with this after looking at what's around the nrl we are devoid of talent we don't have it to go with the best in the comp.If your not in for Barnett we may aswell think about moving Moses as it appears with the team as it is now we can go so far.
We need more if we can't get it the premiership drought is going well into 40 plus years.
Again I'm not completely against Barnett, if we move on De Belin, which seems likely, all good I'm all in. For Samrani? At this stage we need depth in the backs.
In terms of 1 target, i would go off based on who is realistically off-contract. The only middle who is off-contract worthwhile for the middles is Ata Mariota. I would offer around $600k for him to start.
But one who is a pipedream but would try and sus out is Moeaki Fotuaika at Gold Coast. He is off-contract next year, they are not going to well and in the midst of another rebuild. Tino taking up a lot of money. Reportedly only on $700k, i would go $800k for him being an Origin forward, experienced and only 27.
I think Barnett will end up at Brisbane anyway, not too worried about it lol
Surprised to hear this, in our severe shortage of outside backs n even worse next year, Samrani is definitely one of our much more promising ones.
