      • Yehez, are you saying Braith is making it up about Eels waning a long term Manager?

How it seems to me to have played out. Eels were favourites to sign Pezet long term until Broncos stepped in. Before that happened Ryles gave Hawkins permission to sign in the UK. Next minute, Braith tells Ryles that Pezet intends to sign with Broncos from 2027 but is willing to play for the Eels in 2026. Ryles without a backup Half back, reluctantly agrees.

I really want to give Ryles and Co the benefit of the doubt on this, as all decisions previous have worked out. My problem is, I resend the fact Eels are developing Brisbane's next starting half back.

        • This is how I feel it went too.

        • OK if that how it played out, then we'll see Pezet mostly in Cup this coming year.

          • What part of Eels wanted Pezet long term did you miss? They didn't want to sign him long term to play in Reggie's. Just because they wanted him to play 5/8 doesn't mean he wasn't viewed as a Moses replacement.

        • Your saying braith scewed Jr over and footy Dean was the innocent by stander?

          • Braith definitely screwed JR by announcing Eels wanted a longer contract.
Footy Dean the victim? I like to think he got himself a great contract in UK and he is good with that. So not a victim.

        • I think it went like this, based on the fact Braith did not say explicitly "Eels offered X years long deal", he responded to an additional prompt specifically saying "did Eels want him long term?", he said "ofcourse they did". I believe we would of openly said "we are looking for a long term halves partner for Mitch, here is our budget, we love Jonah, can we make it happen"? And our $ wouldn't of been close to his expectations and they would've said "we will sign for $X", we would've said "no thanks we will have to stick with our juniors".. "what about a loan for $X?" "Sweet yep cheers let's do it."

Braith was being open and truthful and it's rare we get insights into the game behind the game, but ultimately there will always be some level of ambiguity, just need to put your thinking cap on a little and ask why

      • What we 'want' or 'explore' as an 'idea' is one thing. But if you knew Pezet wants to be a 7 (admitted publicly), doesn't want to wait 4 years behind Hughes/Moses (his get-out clauses are public record), why would you table a formal long-term contract? Each to their own I suppose. Baffling logic, just quietly.

  • I do agree the outrage has been ridiculous but our fans are allowed to have questions.

A bad deal is only when you get a player that makes you worse. At worst this is a neutral deal.

    • For example Lewis Dodd lol.
