Eels eye Richie Myler

Richie Myler On The Move in 2018Richie Myler’s impressive start to the 2017 Betfred Super League has Clubs interested in him services for 2017 and not just Super League Clubs.Myler, 26, contract is set to expire with the Catalan Dragons at the end of the 2017 season and the talented halfback is attracting considerable amount of interest of Super League and NRL clubs in Australia.skysports-rugby-league-richie-myler-catalans-dragons_3896618.jpgMyler has scored a try in his first 3 games of the season and in last weeks clash against the Leeds Rhino he had two tries assist and has been one of the Catalan Dragons best players to date.Current Bronco and England coach Wayne Bennett has indicated that Myler could be a possible replacement for Ben Hunt, who most recently signed a multi-million deal to join the St George-Illawarra Dragons.Wayne Bennett is not the only NRL coach who has their eyes set on Myler, with Parramatta coach Brad Arthur and Bulldogs Coach Des Hasler showing interest in the Catalan half.It is understood the Widnes Vikings from Super League have indicated they are interested in Richie Myler for 2018, but would find it hard to compete with the money the NRL Clubs would offer.Coach Denis Betts wants to add some much needed experience in his halves combination, following the departure of Kevin Brown to the Warrington Wolves before the 2017 season.Myler, has made 210 Super League apperances since making his debut for the Widnes Vikings in the 2007 season. He has also represented England on 6 different occasions and is a quality half-back that is in demand for the 2018 season.

  • I wouldn't mind him but not on too much money as he would be injury cover for norman

  • I sure that feelers have been put out to gain interest in case our halves don't work out, it's a smart thing to do. But it doesn't mean we are genuinely interested, we may have only asked his price.
  • I pwlersonally don't think backs transition from the UK very well. Ellery Hanley is the standout, and to a lesser degree Gary Schofield. Since then I can't remember a backline player to come here and be a huge success. Tomkins, Hardaker and Thorman failed. Brian Carney did Ok, as has Widdop and Thomas Leuluai.. But no real superstars. Unlike forwards, where players like Graham, Burgess, Gareth Ellis and Adrian Morley all proved themselves as top class.
    • And Widdop moved here at 16 so had 4-5 years, during his biggest development stage, playing against top class opposition.

    • Gary Connelly was a good signing by the bulldogs in 1993,
Before him they also signed welshman Johnathon Davies with some success
    • Joe Burgess also failed

  • Don't see it happening.

  • Just digging around, this has come from a site called the 5th Tackle, notoriously known for starting bogus rumours and reports to try and get readers and viewers.
No credibility whatsoever so I would pay little attention to it.

  • Persist with Gutho, he will develop into a really good 5/8

  • Wouldn't be surprised if the Dwogs have already got him?
