THE Parramatta Eels have returned to Sydney following an eight-day training camp in Seattle, tired but happy with the work done and bonding of the team.
“Its good to be back after a pretty big eight days,’’ said Darcy Lussick this morning.
“With a few new faces in our squad, the trip was perfect in bringing us together both at training and spending time with each other in another country.
“I think we’ll be a stronger group for it.’’
Touching down at Sydney airport this morning, the team will recover from a gruelling 18-hour flight before continuing their pre-season training.

“It was a worthwhile trip, certainly different to your average week in pre season,’’ said Isaac De Gois today.
“But we were conscious of making sure our training was the priority and we did that.
“I really enjoyed training in the top class facilities that Seattle had to offer.
“Now we have to continue the hard work at home over the next six to seven weeks before Christmas.”
According to head coach Brad Arthur, the club’s time in the States has been a beneficial bonding experience, particularly for the new faces which include Anthony Watmough, Richie Fa’aoso, Beau Champion and Brad Takaraingi.

It was also an important stepping stone to help the club move on from the Jarryd Hayne era which has been the focus of so much attention in recent weeks.
“The culture that Arthur and his coaching staff have worked hard to implement will stand us in good stead next year,” Tim Mannah said before they left the States.

“As a team we’re leaving the Jarryd Hayne talk behind us and focusing on 2015.”
Arthur has already made clear his intentions to make Will Hopoate the club’s No 1 next season to reward him for the impressive developments he has made in the last 12 months.
That said, the Eels coach still has $600,000 at his disposal following the departure of Hayne as the cash spent on Watmough, Takaraingi, Champion, Robinson, Fa’aoso and Danny Wicks had been determined prior to the full-back’s departure.

What is this '$600,000' they keep harping on about?
They're kidding themselves if they think Hayne was only on a $600,000 contract
He must have had some awesome 3rd party deals! And must have been using up all of our marquee player allowance (which means no other Top 25 player could use sponsor money)
Thurston signed for a million a season apparently
So you are saying that Hayne was on $500k then, if he gets the $100k marquee? As they are saying we only have $600k to play with now Hayne has gone.
Also our Salary Cap would stretch to $6.6 million with the Long Service and Marquee maximums
So that means the average salary for a player in the Top 25 can be $252,000 before 3rd party deals and Vehicle alllowances.
.... Surely Hayne was on more than double a normal players salary.
They resigned Sefa after he left so maybe that took care of half of it
If Barba can get 800k why begrudge Sefa 600k on the side
