Early Mail for Saturday’s clash in Darwin against the Raiders suggests Dylan Brown will return at 5/8th, whilst Salmon will shift to right centre with Hoffman out. Thoughts?

Young superstar Dylan Brown (back) is expected to be named for his first match since Round 3. He returned to full contact training last week. “I’m fully back with the boys which is good for my head space,” Brown said. “Unless something crazy happens, I should be playing this week.”

With Brown back, expect Jaeman Salmon to shift from the halves to centre and Josh Hoffman to drop out. The other option is for Salmon to shift to the bench. Michael Jennings (knee) was ruled out for Tonga but expected to take the field for the Eels after resting up. Blake Ferguson will be named to back up.

  • Not happy about Hoffman being out. He along with sivo, has been making big metres for us coming out of our end.

  • I can't see hoffman being left out, wont be happening.

  • Yeah it’s time to move on from Hoffman. He was dreadful against the sharks don’t forget.

  • Hoffman has really lifted his game in last month. Having a real crack.

    • I agree. Everyone has a shitter as the Hof did vs the Sharks.

I think he's decent enough to hold onto for cover in the backline.

He's way better, more consistant and trustworthy than  George Jennings or Will Smith. Those two should be shown the door. The NRL is way over their head.

  • Hoffman will remain, surely.

  • More likely to see Salmon on the bench.

  • Is it definite that Hoffman will be out? Or only speculation? Brown won't be as intense as he was or near as good after suffering the injury he did. I think you'll find him not as promising a player as he was after this injury but he will be more cautious and play much more conservatively.

    • I don't think he has to run the ball if he wants to avoid contact as much as possible for his first couple games.

He just needs to spread and kick the ball.

OK he still has to make his tackles so he'll need good help from his team mates.

I'm pretty sure though if he wasnt 100% he wouldn't be on the park. It would be criminal to do that.

    • You had him out for the season as I recall and now you reckon his potential will be less than it was before and that he'll take the softly, softly approach. Oh, ok I'm convinced.
