Dunneman, Arthur and players' choice

I thought someone would have pointed this out before but here goes. Senior Canberra players had a falling out with Furner and they reacted by wanting his replacement Dunneman for the permanent coaching position. Senior Eels players had a falling out with Kearney and reacted by wanting his replacement Arthur for the full-time gig. Neither were cool rational decisions.

  • I don't really get your point

    • I am saying the players were so relieved to get rid of Furner/ Kearney, they could have easily over-estimated the ability and communication skills and rapport of their replacement. It is human nature. Over a full season, when the going gets tough, they might have second thoughts if Arthur is coach. That is called cognitive dissonance and it is real.

    • Can't afford to go through this again. Need to make the right decision now! I just hope they respect the coach and the coach expects respect back!
  • They could have 2nd thoughts about any coach mid way through the season. What's your point? It's at least a good idea to start the season with a coach players are positive about and are keen to play under.

  • JT is the one for us.
But the board are a bunch of tossers
    • Mac, are you going to be ok if BA is coach? We all know how badly you wanted JT.
    • I'm ok with BA. He was my second choice.
Some people are taking this situation way too lightly.
The person who gets picked to coach us has to get us back where we belong. I personally think JT is the man to exactly that. He's the players choice and the fans choice.
I never get my way with parra coaches. I never wanted Hagan, I never wanted Kearney and never wanted Ricky Stuart.
  • x2 Mac, JT would be great but i am really warming to Arthur.

  • In reality no one knows how a new coach will perform or how the team will perform with the new coach.

Lets just patiently wait until after the GF and then back the team and the coach. Most likely BA.

Then at the end of next year we will be in  a better place to judge how things are going.

This is no different to signing a player, we've seen high profile players come and not perform, so lets just wait and see.

Personally, every step is a step closer to a Premiership.

    • From what i hear it was the opposite with Arthur and Kearney, Kearney was the nice guy buddie buddie and arthur was the hard arse.  Good news is the players still like and respect him.
