Drugs in sport.

As you already read about Walker and Gray from the Rabbits and their experience with perscription drugs and their so called brush with Mr. Death (AKA The Grim Reaper), we should look back at sport and see the drugs that was used. Remember Reni and his addiction to coke? What about Wendell Sailor and his coke addiction?Ryan Tandy and his Overdose on smack, same with Peter Jackson, the former Broncos centre (I think) and how he was addicted to heroin. What about Paul Hayward, the former Newtown halfback in the mid 70s who was smuggling back smack and got caught. Ended up at the Bankok Hilton and caught AIDS, which I think he died from in the end...I remember the 70s was full of players smoking grass to dropping LSD before matches...Andrew Johns is a great example of a dickhead who used to take Es the night before and still play...and yet he was named an Immortal...

You see there are sports stars who are willing to cheat by going further by snorting up coke or injecting steroids. I could rattle off names of drug cheats but what gets me is why? Why take these substances to enhance your performance on the field? These sports stars are meant to be a shining example to the youth but nooooooo they rather f**k themselves up and then cry on TV saying 'Ohhhh I have an addiction to {insert your drug of choice} I can't help (quickly snorts another line of coke and meth) myself...' Like Marilyn Manson's song 'I don't like the drugs but the drugs like me'. They're fools and idiots. I don't know the full story behind Walker and Gray's misadventures but hope that it taught them a bloody good lesson...don't do prescription drugs...nah, smoke a bong instead LOL

  • Why take these substances to enhance your performance on the field? I'd say its to enhance their performance on the field so you kind of answered your own question there.. Why does anyone take drugs, boredom, depression or they just like the feeling of getting high? Footballers would be more susceptible to falling into drugs imo. Young, famous and cashed up, could you imagine the temptation when this is your life. I think the problem is bigger than most people know and this wont be the last time you hear of footballers getting themselves into trouble over drugs.

    • And a lot on booze bans which were not around aka nineties and earlier ....
  • Hows the war on drugs going ?
    • It was lost before it begun.

  • Recreational drugs cannot be considered performance enhancing. Imagine how good joey would have been if he didnt take pingas??
    • So you rekon that speed would not enhance you performance on the sporting filed? Limitless rush of energy. Assuming you took it not long before the game that is.

    • It's a generational prob . When I was going out as a twenty something we would drink our stollies or whatever and that was our fun, these days gals don't drink and do coke as it doesn't put weight on and they can go out and stay skinny . It's just a diff world ....experimenting with whatever is the way to go . Would hate to be a teen or twenty something . At least all we had to lol forward to was a hangover and maybe vommitting into my long locks ( which never occurred :-)
    • That may be true, but most users of Fanta are.....

  • Recreational drugs cant be considered performance enhancing or cheating, this call usually comes from people who have never used, they simply dont understand.

Some think it helped him mentally cope with a season, no more than a few beers would do the same imo

Anti depressants arnt seen as performance enhancing, heaps of players are on them, they help those players get through a season and they use them every day?

Having a few pills or some blow on the weekend would do absolutely zero to improve ones performance on the park, if anything it would be counter productive to playing a good game of footy.

    • What is you were to nail a line of speed an hour before kick off snake?
