Did we finally get our pathways in order?

Harold Matt's made second week of finals

SG Ball making GF (going undefeated in regular season)

2nd in Jersey flegg

Top 4 in NSW Cup

Looks like forwards and halves are deep while outside backs is thin

Our pack looks of the future great Sam Tuivati, Will Latu, Jeziah Fanu, Demascus Neemia, Tony Matale, Ryda Talagi.

Lorenzo Tailatana (SG ball player of the year), Twiddle, Hunt, Lincoln's Fletcher, Lachlan Cokknias.

Obviously not all of them will be stars but haven't seen this amount of talent in a while.

Hopefully 3-4 make debut next year.

                    • I was always under the impression of if other clubs aren't doing it there is a reason to it. But i think why the hell not with so many teams the talent is being stretched. Untapped area in pacific islands and not everyone can play Union and Union can only go so far.

You will find gems that nobody would have thought of, plus if you sign them the worse that happens is they either play Flegg or Cup or play Ron Massey. No harm done if they don't work out.

                • I think we are definitely pushing for athletes right now. I think thats why we are not 100% consistent right now in the junior grades. Lot of raw ability and talent which is making them win games but lacking the experiences and football nous to be consistent. But as you say, we can fix the experiences and knowledge but not the raw ability/athelticism.

                  • I'd say our Harold Matts side were their own worst enemies. Lots of athletes, but not a lot of footy brains.

                    • Yep HM discpline was the worst I have seen from a footy team at times.

              • All good, look forward to it. Do not put things on hold for it though, we can wait.

    • Sorry PT I can't agree here these people named have to crack the FG squad first and foremost.Right now I'd say these kids are on the bottom of the escalator either a few levels to go before we can say our pathways are fine.

      • Hi Coryn,

The absolute smokey to be the super pathways producer is Warriors.  Won last two HM Cups and they didnt make the SG Ball but are a huge team. They have some athletes in that program.  WE are now startiing to source out footballers who can playu bigger minutes, can hold and pass a football and have some old fashioned resilience.  Couple of QLD boys are showing just this and we are getting into the regional areas a bit too.  The big difference is that we have a coach that will reward these players by giving them a chance .  WE are definately better equipped in 2025 and moving forward.

        • In our pack. Polley, Talagi and Popo are going to be guns. Polley is your Murray like player. Popo is like Kolomatangi. Talagi is a big boy with great footwork. Similar to AFB.

The Captain replied to Electric Eel 2's discussion Recruitment and Retention and signings
"Yep, agreed with both you LB and EA. The market is grim, we're at the bottom of the ladder and there are new teams on the horizon to drain the talent pool even more.
Ryles is right, we're going to need to bide our time and be smart. No easy answers."

"We embarrassed ourselves because we were outsmarted by Gus and the Dogs. In these negotiations there are winners and losers. We lost.
If it pleases you to say we lost professionally, then so be it. But we still lost."

LB replied to Electric Eel 2's discussion Recruitment and Retention and signings
"Well similar to what EA said, the market was bare before Ryles got in there. What we are trying to do, hoping we are trying to do, is manipulate the market where a player like rumoured Jayden Campbell comes up and we nab him where if we sign Sandon…"
