I pose this question to all us passionate Eels Supporters?
Over the years we have seen many a young and fairly inexperienced team start the season brilliantly. They make up for this inexperience through pure enthusiasm and the willingness to just have a go.
As the season goes on they become physically but more mentally tired and therefore their performances suffer.
To me this summaries the start to our season
Normally what then happens is the teams becomes fairly easy beats until their season is done and they may finish off a bit stronger when the pressure is off
To me the the only thing separating us from these other teams was Jarryd Hayne who in a number of games after Origin basically carried us to victory
As the season went on a number of our younger inexperienced outside backs seemed to make simple errors in defence. Was this physical or mental tiredness.
It was no coincidence that one of if not our best player over the last few weeks was Moeroa who hadn't endured a full season in 1st grade.
The experience the team has gained this year I feel will hold them in good stead in the years to come.
By the way I deliberately stayed off this sight for the last 2 and a half days so that I wouldn't let my emotions get the better of me Just think where we were this time last year

Having Hayne for a full season helped and gave us hope.
But I think the hope mainly came from some new recruits and juniors.
I agree, the season wore them down and a couple of crucial injuries didnt help. But this is what every team has to deal with somewhere through the season.
False hope? No. we just werent good enough to get there in the end.
