This smells like a rat to me. Some of the offerings to players prior to this announcment now seem to make sense. Was there any insider trading??? Our offering was resonable to the players leaving and yet we where outbid by clubs who had no salary cap space? I will leave names out of it at a risk of being sued.

That's a reasonable question...
It's all pretend fiat money.
Yes it is possible that some clubs at least suspected in advance by rumours , if not forewarning , of the 2023 salary increase . If that had occurred then I would not be surprised such of those fortunate clubs approached potential new 2023 players on basis of a bigger spending budget ( $1 million plus per team ) being available .
Add to that signing based on suspecting a cap increase can be dangerous , happened to dogs last time when it didn't go as much and they were in a mess and only recovering now
The only thing add is why we can't keep out first grade team together. While other clubs can fit so many rep players & resigned most of their juniors. We need to start building with quality players. Otherwise we could be out of the top 4 next year.
Tim Tim you say Eels can be out of the top 4 next year who do you think will it be this year? I see a genuine top 6 at least squeezing into 4. I think Broncos with Adam Reynolds away from Cook a very firm contender. Cowboys and Panthers always improving, Storm building back and Roosters still offer a lot. Haven't mentioned Eels, Sharks or Bunnies yet. Dragons trying hard as well. Never take anything for granted. I'm not referring to cap space just eligible teams. Top 4 looking very very crowded and congested.
