Cup observations

I have watched the last couple of weeks in cup and just have the following observations. Im only going to comment on people who haven't played nrl and have potential to.

The score is currently 16-10 at haltime against the Warriors, which is an awesome effort. I wouldn't be surprised if the Warriors ran away with it in the 2nd half. They have only lost one game this year and we have a very weak team. Lussick and Hands the only top 30 players playing. Keir and Pryke the only dev players playing. Even Latu and Nanva are unavailable or rested.

Twidle is a huge threat with the ball. Everything good in attack usually stems from him.  Definitely has nrl potential.

Sam. L is having a great season. Seems to have got his body right and is playing some good footy. He knows how to do the spectacular put down as well. I seriously think he deserves a dev contact or at the very least a full train and trial over the next pre season.

Pryke is getting better and better. Has developed some good passing and offloading skills. With a few more kgs on his frame he'd be well suited to the nrl.

Lokeni is getting a run on the edge and looks very strong. Would like him to get more time at this level.

Max Tupou has been the big surprise for me. Came back from injury last week and has come back like a house on fire. Unsure of his contact status but I think he has to be given an nrl pre season next year. He's a big mobile middle who has been running very hard.

Kayne Kalache will never play nrl I don't think but he has been so reliable for the team this year.

The one negative is Smalley.  Gee he is lost in defence, both on the wing and at centre.

Keen to see how Neemia goes in this second half.

  • EA, how was Coinakis in Flegg? Do you think he is that good that he could overtake Smith in time as the starter, pushing in 2027, or is Smith the better prospect?

    • He didnt have the best game. I do not think we can make a judgement between Coinakis and Smith yet. Too early. Coinakis only played his first JF game today.

      • Though more so do you see the hype around Coinakis even in Ball?
It reminds me a lot of Kyle Schneider for some reason.

        • Umm yea I saw the hype in Ball. But he is not your X factor hooker. He is your solid defence and service 9. I would say Smith has more attacking upside than Coinakis. But Coinakis would be the better defender with his technique

          • I see Coinakis like Blayke Brailey while Smith is like Damien Cook. Ryles apparently wants an eyes up Hooker, not sure if that is Coinakis and Smith would be that.

  • Lachlan Coinakis is a great defender , very physical in the tackling department . Has an above average kicking game from dummy half . His running game needs work but in Ball he had two top class halves Lorenzo/fletcher demanding the ball mostly .  Not ready yet Imo . Jersey flegg next year with some cameos in Cup.

    • I say his father is Paul coinakis who was a very good defender.  I imagine lachie to follow in his father's footsteps.

    • He has some size for a Hooker. Again, seems like a Blayke Brailey type where he would develop a nice first step from dummy half creating momentum. He will never be a Hooker that will run well like Cook but will be an attacking asset with what he does around the ruck.

"He made his cub debut last year. He will be pushed through next year into cup. Just hard to find a spot for him in the backrow when Carty, Latu, Keir, Guymer, Kelma all play backrow rn.
