Could Munster be an option for 5/8 for 2028?

So we have a few options bubbling under the surface for our issue at 58, but none are 100% locked in. Volkman had a great end to the year and is building nicely, I still think he could be the answer, but to be fair, probably not the player we could confidently say will build a Premiership on. Then we have the young blood Lorenzo Talantaina, who by all means could be great, but unproven in first grade and has some development to go till he fills out.

I was listening to Kenty's podcast last night while hitting a few balls in my sim and they were saying Munster is being lowballed by Storm, Perth are going hard for Burton, Chief's will go for Walker now Cleary signed, and Titans are going massive for Harry... so Munster is struggling to find that next club or he's going to have to take a significant shave to stay at Storm at $700k a season. Admittedly he didn't have a good season last year defensively and he's getting a bit older, but I do wonder if he could partner Mitch in the halves for their last couple of seasons and provide some stability as we transition to some of our young guns?

Hypothetically if we get him for $800-850k a season as the cap moves up, it's really good value for a marquee player that is still one of the best halves on his day and the current Australian Captain. I would be having a sniff for sure and seeing if he's up for a move to Sydney.

  • I wonder if he would even have it in him to move to another club let alone moving to Sydney

  • He is washed.

  • No past it now prefer Volkmann if he continues on his current trajectory

  • nah...
We will have Ronnie and Moses.
With Lorenzo backing up as well as the new Storm kid and Lincoln Fletcher getting ready for first grade.
Munsters best days are behind him. It would be mad to lose Ronnie to sign Munster.

  • No, you will see this weekend that Volkman will out perform munster. IMO Volkman has the passion and skill suited for the modern game. Munster is past his best.

  • There is a reason Munster cant find a suiter. Current Australian 6 and no clubs lined up for his signature. Similar to Mitch has issues with injuries. Cant block Volkmans path for 2028 he would 100% leave.

  • NO; he will head interstate but not with us. I feel he is a bit washed up too, and if the game tsays the same pace to me he will struggle a bit. I predict the game will come back a bit in terms of pace in 27 but Munster I feel is not worth it. Need a quicker guy

  • a Big No...we already went down this path with Foran....a player aging out with major injuries on the horizon.....this will end in tears too if it happens

Burton Bostock or Best the 3 BBBs
