"In fairness to Cleary as much as I'd love to sink the boot into that Penreff scum, he did not get one quick play the ball tonight to do Cleary things. Why was the refereeing so different to game 2? There were times tonight when NSW was well on top…"

I know you love Weller Phil, but even you must be willing to concede he just doesn't look like he's going to handle the adjustment to the top grade? Do you know if he was given permission to negotiate elsewhere for 2010? If so, I take it nobody expressed any interest in securing him for next year?
His other areas needed for improvement are discipline - he gives away too many penalties - and fitness. Again, both easily fixed measures.
And you can't use him just belting it up the middle like he has been used to much in the past. He is a far more dynamic runner than any other player in the team, and close to the line with his footwork he's always going to be difficult to stop - witness the double of tries he bagged against the Dogs last year.
Good coaching teams can take a player with Weller's talent and get rid of his flaws and you come out with totally new players. I have every trust DA and Sharp will do that with Weller this year because his spark off the bench is really needed with Joe not here next year.
I have no problem saying Weller didn't deliver value on his contract last year. He needs to deliver and this is his final chance to do so. I think he'll prove you all wrong.
As for Horo, he had a purple patch of form for Wenty last year and then dropped off again, and has many of the same issues as Weller if you ask me, except he drops off tackles at NSW Cup level.
Look what Bellamy did with blokes like Jeff Lima for example (and he is one of many examples). Turned them into world-class standard forwards, imagine if Wellar went to Melbourne and did that with his career....everyone here would be whinging. Next year is definetly make or break for Wellar...and he knows it, as I'm sure Oake knows it as well. Rest assured, you can guarantee both will be trying their hardest to crack the top team and that type of pressure is healthy for any team. They will be two men desperate to keep their first grade dream alive and as 1Eyed said, particularly with guys like Sharp coming on board, they should and will improve, whether or not they both unlock their potential is yet to be seen though.
On a side note, I think if Oake really wants to crack it at NRL next year, he needs to work on his strength, lateral movement and fitness. He does well in defence early, but gets tired and his lateral movement becomes very poor, a result of his fitness and he never seems to make a dent in the defensive line, so a bit more strength is required to get him eating a few more metres per hitup.
