Club Statement: Leadership Update

The Parramatta Eels today confirm a change in the club’s football leadership structure, with Mark O’Neill departing his role as Head of Football, effective immediately.

We thank Mark for his service and commitment during his time at the club. His efforts have contributed to important developments both on and off the field, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

The club is pleased to announce the appointment of Shane Richardson as Head of Football. Shane brings a wealth of experience across the NRL landscape, with a proven track record in driving high-performance programs, strong club culture, and sustained success.

This appointment reflects the club’s clear focus on accountability, high standards, and delivering consistent results for our members and fans. Shane will commence in the role immediately and will work closely with players, coaches, and staff to strengthen the football program and position the club for long-term success.

The Parramatta Eels remain committed to building a premiership-winning organisation and delivering performances our supporters can be proud of.

Further updates will be provided in due course.

    • What exactly does his position entail and what type of salary would he be pulling in?

  • Can he take Paulo with him ?

  • ok ok it is April 1st cmon Chiefy

  • LOL. You absolute turd Chiefy! I almost had hope for a second there... 🤣🤣

  • All the scrutiny on saints re their failing dads army recruitment strategy and the one old dude they release, we sign. In a results driven business, ONeill continues to deliver diddly squat yet somehow gets to keep his high paying job with seemingly only us seeking accountability

    • Statistically speaking last year DeBelin was pretty much identical to Junior (more tackles per game at higher efficiency but slightly less metres made).

I'm not sure why he isn't in the team, hardly surprising our middle defence is wafer thin since he's been ommitted. He's effectively on a one year deal (club option to keep him around for a second) and he's on a small salary. Junior is in his final year of a 4 year deal on $975k. Tell me where the problem really lies?

I was told the other day we have a predicament. Manly has a predicament, St George has a predicament, Newcastle has a predicament. We lost a game of footy to the Panthers, people need to calm down
