The Parramatta Eels (“Eels”) wish to advise that Sean McElduff will be retiring from the Eels’ board as Chairman and non-executive director in February 2025.
Sean joined the Eels Board in February 2017 and has served as Chairman since 30th August 2018. Over the past eight years, Sean’s leadership has been instrumental in driving the Club’s transformation, guiding us through a period of financial recovery and stability, and positioning the Eels for long-term success.
During Sean’s tenure, the Club achieved several significant milestones, including:
Returning to financial strength and stability which has enabled the Club to invest heavily in its football programmes.
Playing in the 2022 NRL and NRLW Grand Finals, a proud moment for the Club and our members.
Launching our NRLW team, enhancing our commitment to women’s rugby league.
Establishing a strong foundation for the future, including the upcoming completion of the Club’s world-class Centre of Excellence which is expected to open in April this year.
On behalf of the Board, management, staff, players, and the Parramatta Eels community, we thank Sean for his exceptional service, dedication, and passion for the Club. His leadership has been pivotal in setting the platform for success on and off the field.
Sean will be succeeded as Chairman by Matthew Beach who joined the Eels Board in February 2023.

Anyone have any information on McElduffs successor?
Sean will be succeeded as Chairman by Matthew Beach who joined the Eels Board in February 2023.
I know that, I meant if what he will bring to the club whether he is a step up from having McElduff.
I heard his the son of a Beach.
Good
Cool but who is Matthew Beach and what process was used to choose him?
This is the football club board right?, and yes who is he and how was he selected?.
We need to keep beating this drum with Beach as well.
I get it, there's a level of fear involved in full transparency of the process because they don't want it tested, used and abused by folks with bad intent.
But...the powers that be need to have faith that there are many of us with GOOD intent who also want visibility so we can see whether our club is in safe hands or not.
"Just trust us" ain't going to cut it for much longer. We should know how Beach was chosen.
Edit: I should add, his credentials are impressive and he looks good on paper. My issues aren't with the choice, they're with the lack of visibility of the process.
Mathew Beach is a step up from Sean McDuff ,I have had a number of dealings with him over the years and he is no dope ans is a nice bloke .
The current system of deciding who runs the football club is a flawed one , members need to have a big say on who runs the football club so the leagues club board should be in charge of selecting the football club board and not faceless people who answer to nobody.
The leagues club owns the football club so it is only fair that the people who run it decide who runs the football club, then members get to have a big say on everything.
Now that Sean McDuff is going Mark O'Neill will be on shaky ground .
He might be a great bloke. One of the best ever and he might be exactly what the club needs. I have no clue.
As a supporter of the constitution there is a process in place for electing Football Club Directors and the Chairman. I want proof this was followed. I am concerned that Sean merely chose his successor personally. I certainly hope this is not the case
