Parramatta keen on Cowboys forward
Parramatta have identified North Queensland forward Harrison Edwards as a potential immediate signing in a bid to help alleviate the club’s debilitating injury toll.
The Eels have signed Maroons forward Jaydn Su’A to a three-year contract that begins next year, but are hopeful he may be able to make an immediate switch. It remains to be seen whether the Dragons are prepared to release Su’A, who is currently suspended.
Edwards has made 54 first-grade appearances in an NRL career that began at Canterbury and is looking at his best option to add to that number. Given team lists are announced on Tuesday afternoon, the Prime Ministers’ XIII representative is unlikely to secure a release in time to be considered for a debut against his former club.

He's definitely the type of player we need a player who plays with a chip and brings energy and plays with an edge much like Sua.If the club landed him that's a win and as above brings something the team desperately needs.

At the best of times it's hard enough to find players so I guess when your last to the trough you get what you get.

I think he's more of a prop who can fill in at hooker which we need with smiths injury and no sure fired 3rd in line that's ready

We should never have been chasing players at a time when 2 new teams are entering the competition - poor planning and injuries have forced our hand. Our options now are:
Edwards falls squarely into the first category. If it eventuates it's now up to Ryles and co to get the best out of him...that's what BA had to do.
But Cap, it's the time of year too. If we did this deal at years end, then yeah that's rubbish. But it's round 10, not many teams aren't going to let go depth. We got lucky with Walker but remember when he signed many said he was a plodder.
If we didn't have injuries, Edwards is nowhere near talked about.
Oh totally agree LB, I'm not having a go at this deal specifically - mid year transfers are going to be plodders or in very rare exceptions some "stars aligning" kind of circumstances. This deal is required because "we are where we are" (which I do think is down to poor planning as much as it is down to injuries)...but Edwards himself, you get what you get, now it's up to Ryles to use some clever coaching nous.
The gap in the roster is really between experienced NRL players and juniours not yeat ready for NRL. We don't have enough in between players, which is where this signing comes in. Ideally the junior pipeline would have filled this, but there are gaps at the pointy end of that.
The roster gap might also be at the top, Longfin?
A lot of the 13 / 17 are realistically those in-between players (respectfully to them) you mention, especially in the outside backs.
Su'a is a great start, and EA rates our up & coming front rowers, so if we can get 1 experienced front rower to replace Paulo & 2 very good to elite outside backs things could change quickly.
We've seen the difference dangerous outside backs has made to Dylan Brown, Moses needs some help there too, my opinion only & not trying to be negative.
