    • If Cleary and Luai turn up there imagine how many players they'd attract.

Players take less on the cap with TPA top ups free for the next decade if they want to push home an advantage it's a perfect time to strike for the Clearys and others.

      • Yeah think it will be many panthers and exes in their inaugural year. Ivan accepts that I'd say.

Yes, tax free goes an extremely long way and TPAs could be anything. Don't think the TPA rules will apply stringently to them either...seriously as if NRL are gonna notice if they do anything illegal ??

        • Been announced stepping down as coach at the end 27 will be in advisory roll at panthes with Peter Wallis taking over 3year contract

          • Nope, he said he's weighing up an advisory role, or go into rep coaching.  He hasn't taken up.any role

            • That's right chief, they haven't even discussed the details of the advisory role, at this point it's only an offer from the panthers without any substance.

            • He could do both surely?

      • Though remember the talk that all the Wests boys would follow? May brothers, Bula and Turuva all re-sign at Wests. The only players so far for PNG that are being linked are players in the back-end of their career setting themselves up for retirement. When they get someone like say Reece Walsh, then yeah they are off and racing further.

        • If I'm PNG those older players are exactly what I want.

I want experience and surround them with as much young and local talent as possible to start that ground swell around the team. They only need to land 2-3 of those Penrith guys and all the rest will slot into place as an example.

Luai Cleary Yeo for an expansion stsrt up that would be a home run and with the ability to give them prett much what they want financially is a huge incentive.

    • There were rumours back in around 2022 that Ivan was looking at moving into a backroom role and Ciraldo would take over. He admitted in his book he had anxiety and depression as well physical health problems. He probably now, after so many comps and his Penrith legends nearing retirement wants to go out on his own terms. Wants to enjoy his time watching Nathan and Jett.

      • That's the best thing Senior and junior pretty much can write there own ticket.

Ivan I think just wants to step back and give back to his family that's the real sense I get. There's just no respite as an nrl coach 24/7 for years. When I listen to senior talk I just get the inkling being in his mid 50s he wants to reclaim his life which is more than 24/7 football.I'm sure there will be involvement somewhere in the nrl but it's going to be a lessend role time wise or else he'll get stuck in that vortex.
