Pezet had 3 runs, 5 kicks, 2 errors, and 3 try assists. Let's be frank, two of his try assists were fluke kick/regather efforts by others and his try a fluke kick/regather by himself. Ryles played possum about what he has to work on in the press conference for a reason.
Another way of stating all of this is that if Pezet were signed long term then fans would probably be forgiving of a long gestation toward a controlling game without flaws, but for a one year deal, perform now without huge flaws is probably the standard?
Pezet was good, he straightened up the play well, handled the rushing defence by kicking in behind. But yeah his try and Smith's tries were lets be honest rubbish kicks and lucky. Twice i said "Pezet the hell are doing" trying to catch Walsh in the line. The execution of the kicks were poor but maybe since they were so poor the middles of Brisbane didn't know how to defuse.
Though he is not a runner, i felt that worked better against Brisbane as we needed structure, particularly on that right side v Mam who bit on pretty much majority of the pump fakes Pezet through at him as he straightened.
But your last paragraph is 100% spot on. Even i had this throught process. That since he is leaving, fans will try to justify it by seeing him as bad and therefore it is fine if he leaves.
