I take it you haven't watched him play this year LB. Everyone thought he was a lock in for NSW, couldn't even make it. He is not worth anywhere near a million, you pay that for Haas, AFB or even JFH mainly for his leadership, not Koloamatagi.
No I have watched him. He is better than what we currently have. Did I say he is worth a mil? No but to say you wouldn't even sign him for 1 year? If you have the chance to sign a player better than what you have you sign them, within price of course.
Name one player in our pack right now that is a better overall player?
Please do no patronize me with this "havent seen him play" rubbish. I was merely pointing out he is better than what we currently have. Nothing to do with worth financially.
We're yet to win run metres this season (3rd last overall) - Kaeon is 2nd for a front row forward in run metres, ahead of our entire pack, and he's done it on one leg due to the knee / PCL injury (which is why he's not playing origin).
He may not be worth 1m, but the Eels need a pack leader. Are Haas, Fish, or AFB available? Demand drives KK's price, right or wrong.
As LB said we'd be a much stronger team with him than without him.
That's the thing NOS, I'm a firm believer in you sign players that are better than what you have. Burton is better than what we have for example. Keaon is as well.
Yeah he is not worth $1mil. He is in the 2nd tier of Props. Around the the $700-850k value type. But also we are in a position where we need to slightly over pay. Middles are now a position that are valued highly and there is a tax on it where if you are half decent you will garner a decent price.
I'm ok with over pay as long no egregious. Like Keaon valued at $800k and we pay $1mil I can live with it, particularly with how desperate we seem to be for a middle.
Like the talk of Jenkins is we are offering $500k. Is that overpay? Yeah but not to over the top.
Though, I am not normally one to do this but just relaying info given to me. I was out with family and friends of family know Koloamatangi family, particularly the father, showed me photos as proof. Anyway, what was said to me is they are massive Parra fans, but Parra only offered 2 years. He would have went to Parra easily but Dragons offering 5 years he had to take it. Is it true? Who knows but if it is it could be we are really trying to not block the path of our youth. Might be insight to needing only quick fix instead of a fulltime force.
Personally, l wouldn't pay Kalooamatangi anywhere near 1.2m, only front rower in that area, imo, is Payne Haas. But also don't believe Anasta at all that the Dragons are paying 1.2m.
1m per season is tougher, because imo we are desperately needing an alpha front rower, and the fact the Eels offfered 1m over 4 years tells me that's their belief also, plus Paulo's retirement drives demand.
Either way, as mentioned, there might be an opportunity to target the Dragons pack.
One for you, with hindisght, would you have paid Dylan Brown the 1.05-1.1m required per season to keep him?

So we've got a situation here with two of our most learned contributors (both possibly moderators) challenging each other as to what they would do over potential signings. Both saying they wouldn't pay KK the sum offered by St George. Are people starting to grasp the difficulty faced by Mark O"Neill on a day to day basis and that maybe, just maybe he isn't doing as bad a job as some on here make out?
"Stick to what you know Mallee, that's nothing.....Farnworth fantasies show's as much reality as you being a real Parra supporter, back to the Kennell dopey."
"Abdo was a blight to the game. Showed arrogance and honestly just saw him to be this used car salesman when he talked. Never could stand him. He nearly stuffed up the recent TV deal, he strong armed weak clubs and bowed to strong clubs. Ben Ikin I…"
"Thanks mate, shoulder is good and the Physio says I am 6 weeks ahead of schedule and that's pretty good when I am only 5 weeks out of surgery.....matching scars now on both shoulders and I nearly feel like I have been tatooed (7 inches both…"

100% agree, LB. Our goal should be on field sucess.
Man, I really hope that's not accurate, LB.
Of course they wouldn't, but as soon as he has a good game for saints, it will be mentioned how the front office stuffed up signing him.
