                    • This is not correct and you know it hoe. To say the entire recruitment team headed by o'neill are nothing but puppets because the current roster failures are squarely on Ryles and before that BA is the biggest bunch of crap I've heard.

                      Cmon hoe, be realistic.

So you're saying the entire failure of the club comes down to one person  - the coach.   Mate grow up.

The roster and cap  managment at each club is dictated by the head of football,  the recruitment team and the coaching staff. All headed by Sarantinos who answers to the board, and o'neill being in charge for 8 years has to be accountable

                    • You're manipulating my words, Chief. A broken record player parroting the same thing over and over.

Stefano is on record that he left because BA had RCG and Paulo, and he wasn't a big part of the rotation plan.

And who had Matt Arthur lined up as the next big thing?  BA wasn't all that fussed about losing Reed.

And Kaeon for $6m on the cap? $1.2m per year on the cap. Pfff. We passed. As did Souths.

And Dylan on a record breaking $13m on the cap? $1.3m per year on the cap. Pfff. You think a club can hold a player to randsom. 98% of players aren't signed to ten year contracts. Fair dinkum. They are going to be off contract at some point. No other club was going to go near that.  He got a deal of a lifetime. He's a father and building a family.

                      Reality gentlemen.

Mate, let's agree to disagree on some of these points. And move on.

Let's get back on topic. Or move your sack-a-holic spiel to another more relevant blog. You have already created enough of those: more than you can poke a stick at. Plenty of choice.

                    • If you try to hold the head of football and the recruitment team to account you are scapegoating but throwing it all onto the coach apparently isn't.

Claiming the head coach has final say is scapegoating, sure, he has fi al say but you need to put some context to it. Do you seriously think ryles said " go get me Brian kelly", no, he would have asked the recruitment team to get him an outside back, the best available,  they came back with Kelly or no-one. So yeah, he has final say but can only choose from those presented.

                    • Take this discussion on sackings to another blog. There are plenty Chief and that FB petition agenda guy with 66 signatures have already posted. Why poison every blog with this repetitive spiel.

                    • Dylan should have never ever got into the situation where he could negotiate.  Thats a complete failure on behalf of O'neill

O'neill 8 years has to be most accountable for the situation we are now in. These are the facts

Ryles cant be expected to manage the cap, manage each grade, carry out negotiations with each individual recruit and retention,  deal with day to day player issues,  create game plans, manage selections and everything that goes with coaching and be expected to be responsible for the entire roster.

Where did I complain about team selections

                    • But yet BA was expected to that and you abused him over it? Right ok. So if Ryles is not responsible for the roster why was BA hated by you for so long? Ryles doesn't get a say at all and MON just buys players and Ryles doesn't say yes or no beforehand? Makes sense.

Also about not letting Brown get to November 1. What if he wanted to get to November 1? What if his management said to him let's test our market. What happens then? What happens if they say "Dylan, we want to extend" and he replies "Nah, I want to test my value on the market" what happens then? Cannot force players to sign.

                    • Let's not throw stones now Chief.

                    • The Dragons reportedly paid 1m per season for Kalooamantangi, which apparently was the same as the Eels offer financially - but the Dragons offered 5 years, Eels 4.

The Eels never needed to pay 1.3m to keep Dylan Brown, that's the price to take Dylan, not keep him.

Inflated numbers, regardless of opinions on either player, change the optics of both situations incorrectly.

                    • Exactly correct mate.  It all comes down to poor management, but try not to upset the unicorns by sharing facts

                    • Assuming Drown is getting paid $1.3M/year, that's a guaranteed $13M until he is 35 years old. How much would we have had to pay, and for how long, to make the Knights deal anything other than a no brainer? A five year deal would have him off contract at 30. Not a position most players want to be in. At 30 he could already be on the decline, and might struggle to get a better contract afterwards. Especially since his physicality is a big part of his game.

This is the Knights seeking short term gains for long term risk. Same with the Dragons and Koloamatangi. Are we as desperate?
