Bulldogs and Dolphins in talks with Apa Twidle

Parramatta are facing a battle to keep boom rookie Apa Twidle.

Sport Confidential can reveal Twidle has attracted interest from three NRL rivals in the wake of his stunning two-try debut against the Wests Tigers on Easter Monday.

Twidle’s management has fielded an inquiry from Phil Gould’s Bulldogs and the Dolphins, while Mal Meninga’s Perth Bears are also watching the young gun closely.

Twidle is off-contract at season’s end and has been offered a development deal by the Eels for 2027.

But the Eels may have to up the ante following Twidle’s brilliant baptism against the Tigers, which has piqued the interest of NRL suitors.

The 21-year-old Kiwi is one of the most versatile players in the league, capable of playing wing, centre and in the halves.

    • Ea , ask yourself this question,  is Twidle worth keeping ? Ye or no

If he is you find a way. Thats mark o'neill job to identify talent and lock them up before its too late

If Twidle goes its another black mark on O'Neill’s resume

      • You realise we have a head of recruitment, right? And that the head of recruitment is not O'Neill?

        • Does the head of recruitment answer to O'Neill?

        • Nice play on words Super. Ben Rogers as head of recruitment can tell anyone he wants how good or bad someone is but unless the Football Manager can get a decent contract over the line, Ben can knock his head against a brick wall and it still won't matter how many recruits he identifies.

          • Why would the head of football need to get a decent contract over the line? That's the recruitment manager's job. The football manager ensures the deal is salary cap compliant and is what the coach wants.

Head of Football = oversees football department, ensuring the coach has all support he needs, the development pathways are well supported and all necessary support staff are engaged. That includes managing the salary cap.

Head of Recruitment = leads the recruitment and retention of players he and his team have identified.

They work together, but you're kidding yourself if you think Mark is scouting and handling day-to-day recruitment work.

            • If MON as Head of Football is not actively reviewing, assessing and ultimately steering the direction of the recrutiment program down to the individual player level then we are in even worse shape than I imagined. No one expects MON to be standing on the sidelines on Saturday monring watching 14 year olds, but he should absolutely know the best 14 years olds in the country. Preferably he's met them too. If he leaves all that to other people that's laughable.

            • Maybe Rogers and or his team need to be changed.

It appears they couldn't recruit an Incel to enter a free brothel.
