Bryce Cartwright departs from Parramatta Eels

Parramatta Eels forward Bryce Cartwright will depart the club effective immediately to pursue new opportunities, marking a return to where his rugby league journey began.

Cartwright commenced his career with the St Mary’s Saints before progressing through the Penrith Panthers system. After stints with the Gold Coast Titans and a transformative period at Parramatta, he now returns to St Mary’s to conclude his professional playing career.

“I’m really thankful to the Eels for the opportunity to be part of this club, it always felt like a home away from home. I’m leaving with positive memories, lifelong mates and gratitude for everyone’s support, especially the passionate fans who have always shown me love.

“While I’ve loved my time at Parramatta, this decision is about making the best choice for my family and our future,” added Cartwright.

Parramatta Eels GM of Football Mark O’Neill expressed the club’s gratitude.
“Bryce is a wonderful person with strong family values. He has played some of his most consistent football with the Eels, and we wish him and his family all the best as he transitions to the next chapter of his life.”

Cartwright played his junior football for St Mary's Saints before being signed by the Panthers and earned a reputation as one of the most naturally talented players in the league. He made seven NRL Finals appearances throughout his career, and played for the NRL All Stars in 2017, and NSW City 2016-17.

  • Well he was leaving anyway at seasons end so not much about the cap space for next year. Gives a junior a chance in Cup i guess.

    • I don't get it. If we're paying him for this year anyway, why not have him run out for Wenty's until his contract expires. I'm sure St Mary's aren't paying him more to run out with them.

      • what does wenty have to do with this ?

      • Why have him run out for Wenty.or NSW cup when we could have development players in his position?  It's a positive move by the club

      • if its before the June 30 deadline will we be paying anyway ??

  • What a shame.

  • The last experienced player leaving, please turn out the lights.

Had occasional flashes of brilliance but probably played about 6-10 good games overall.

  • Opens up a top 30 spot

  • Do they realise that when players leave you're meant to replace them?

    • Well he was not seeing NRL this year anyway. Ofahengaue though was not replaced.
