That's all we keep hearing from the commentators/media.

The gap between these two teams and the rest of the competition (in playing ability)

Both Matt Gillett and Lachlan Coote look set to re-sign with their clubs for $200,000 less per season! than other offers they have fielded. How is that remotely possible? unless that money is going to be made up to them by "different" means.

Looking at the their rosters;

There is no way the Broncos squad can be under the salary cap without some massive TPA's or other undisclosed benefits.

The Cowboys are the first team in donkey years to be able to retain the same premiership team for the following season.

Both virtually play every second game on a Friday or Saturday night  providing long turn arounds which is a huge advantage over the course of a 26 round competition.

They were both investigated for rorting the system for all of 3 minutes.

Andrew Gee resigns over an unaccounted $300,000 and refuses to answer questions and then the money magically reappears during the NRL investigation.

The Cowboys players buying properties below market value from the Chairmen of the club who is a multi-millionaire property developer.

Australian team just announced. 5 Broncos, 4 Cowboys.

Broncos, Cowboys, Broncos, Cowboys, Broncos, Cowboys, Broncos, Cowboys, Broncos, Cowboys......

It's not rocket science.

  • Spot on Bert, look at their squads and then look at ours and the teams yet we are the ones about to get nailed for salary cap breaches, it's laughable it really is.

    • I remember a story that was leaked about Lockyer's contract, he was taking up 200K of the Broncos cap while being the highest paid player in the NRL.

His total contract with TPA's was over 1M.

  • Publish the player's wages (as stated on the cap).

Once it's out in the public domain it will be completely obvious which clubs are playing games with TPA's and the NRL can then go and take a look at this instances.

You're right, it isn't rocket science.

  • Can't agree more Bert. By some miracle of accounting they manage to keep all their players from one year to the next and are given a huge advantage compared to other teams in relation to the draw. If the NRL thinks it's a level playing field, they're burying their heads in the sand......Totally and completely unfair!!!

  • You cant beat one team towns, they can always offer less because if a player accepts more elsewhere they have to uproot they home and family.

Get rid of the cap and just go Darwinian.

  • I heard an interview a few weeks ago may have been on Talkin Sport and they joked that a club like Brisbane's Cap including  TPA'S is probably around $9 million. Now that equates to $88,000 extra for every top 25 player.

    Its a joke

  • What you are saying Bert they are cheating NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO way  they just take pay cut to play for each other  so they can buy more players

  • Bet they don't leave a email trail behind???

  • Good blog Bert but it's not only those two. Yes they are the current cheating champions, but what about the Dogs, Roosters or Manly, Manly and Dogs being the funniest. How they have been able to keep the nucleus of their sides for around 6-7 years is too funny. Their fans then have the hide to call us cheats when their sides are stacked with rep players. But the NRL can't see this so no problem.

"I did modern day as 1998 onwards as I didn't see them play, as some here haven't. Where I believe majority of people here have seen all the modern day players play.
Plus it frees up some spots like we all know who 5/8 will be but now no idea."
