Veteran NRL head coach Brian Smith is set to leave his position as the New Zealand Warriors’ general manager of football.
It is understood Smith has become surplus to requirements after arriving at the Auckland club at the end of 2017.
Smith began his first-grade coaching career with Illawarra in 1984.
He went onto to hold head coaching roles at St George, Parramatta, Newcastle and the Sydney Roosters, who sacked the veteran mentor at the end of 2012.
Smith returned to coaching with English Super League club Wakefield Trinity in 2015 but lasted just 10 months before announcing his resignation.
He also coached Super League clubs Hull FC and Bradford Bulls earlier in his career.
Meanwhile, Stuff is also reporting Canterbury Cup coach Nathan Cayless and the Warriors’ high-performance manager Alex Corvo will also both leave th
e club, citing family reasons.

For the Brian's Myth die hards...
While he never won us a premiership he certainly got us into a position to win a few and we produced more first grade players through our junior system than at any other time
Yeah, we’ve all read that countless times on here, but once more didn’t hurt.
You knock him down, i'll pick him back up ;)
The only bloke surplus to requirements at that club is that massive dope Kearney
Alex Corvo might be worth a look
Awwww what about Nathan Cayless? ;)
Poisonous over here they’ve got an old boyz network of old players who have too much say around the Warriors I reckon.
Stephen Kearney a bum for a HC best move Brian Smith ever made.
Surplus to requirements yet guys like Kearney Iro and others have drowned this club in failure over the years.
