Boulous: Welfare comes first

Parramatta Eels CEO John Boulous has pointed to the support from the Eels community as overwhelming following the annoucnement that Captain Kieran Foran would take a leave of absence from the club for an indefinite period.

The Eels halfback will receive medical treatment for personal issues, a decision supported by his teammates, coach and the club.

"Our priority is the welfare of the player and individuals within our club," Boulous said.

"He’s an integral member of our club and that’s echoed by the outpouring of support from Members and fans. Our quest is to ensure that his welfare is looked after and that our support is there for him and his family."

"Everyone goes through personal problems in their life, and in this case for kieran we need to make sure that this welfare is looked after. In cases like this, football comes second to someone’s welfare."

  • Nice stuff from John, hoping the support will give Foz a lift, who knows, he might sit down in a few weeks and read a bit of it and be reminded of how loved he is and how much support he has even from the bloke off the street like us, i want him to know that the club he has come to is more than about just winning and losing, its times like this and the way people react that helps install a heart and soul in a club.

    • we havent had the calibre of foz in our team for the last 30 odd so we better be sensitive or we are rooted!

    • Well said Snake. I think the club is handling this well. I know that our club is staffed by very decent people who truly do care.
I hope Foz can take some solace in how the club, members and fans sincerely do wish him well.
  • Between this & the salary cap drama, think I might follow a different code for the remainder of the year "since the eels season is now absolutely screwed".

    Bring on 2017.
  • Well said Snake, here here!

  • I think a big cheer or applause at the 7th minute mark in tonight's game would be a good way to show our support.
  • Just watched the interview with Boulous, thought he handled himself well. Really disappointed in the grubby questions and tactics used by the journalists. They couldnt give a flying fig about Keiran, they were just looking for dirt. What grubby, dirty little men they are. No integrity whatso ever. Germs

  • Boulos said that Foran can have as much time as he needs. Question I have, how much time does he feel is fair?
    • Frank I feel your frustration, unfortunately, time frames with these types of problems can't be set.

As humans we only hope that Kieran gets the help and support he needs. As 1eyed Eels supporters, we pray he recovers sooner rather than later.

    • Well stated Joseph!
As I could not of said it any
      better.
      Parramum... Cheers!

Plus it frees up some spots like we all know who 5/8 will be but now no idea."
