      • Just read that his previous west tigers contract was upgraded to 400K, so really can't see him thinking he'd be worth less than thst unfortunately...it's a worry and hope the reported huge amounts are not true.

parra good at keeping quiet on signing money front

    • I'd be pretty surprised if 650k is correct also, Pops, Coryn?

The Eels cop criticism for a lot, but they are pretty good at keeping $$ in house. Of course, could be agent releasing that info?

Didn't we only offer Mahoney, in a Grand Final year where he was in QLD squad, 550k or something?

Regardless, this is good news imo, because Ryles clearly has a plan for an Eels style / DNA and clearly has a vision for what he wants out of his dummy halves.

If the club provided him the player he believes helps us get there, then fantastic - well done to R&R.

I really like Ryley Smith, it was obvious the difference he makes to the middle on the weekend, and he bleeds 1%ers, effort areas & commitment, none of which would be missed on JR.

As others have said, this is healthy competition & we can't have one first grade level hooker at the club.

Well done Parra, look forward to seeing how they use & develop TDS & Smith together.

Only concern for me would be I feel this means we definitely are looking at Papalli as our 5/8th next season, hence a more attacking (and expensive) hooker.

It could be a ‘lighting in a tea-cup’ move with that much youth, energy & speed in our spine positions, we wont die wondering.

But as much as I love Papalli, was a big fan of him in Cup for the Dogs & he is everything we want at the club, developing him from fullback into a 5/8th is a big move at this stage of his career, and does feel like its a reactionary to players lost & missed, as opposed to planned.

A developing 5/8th, two young hookers & a brilliant but inexperienced fullback, also means we are looking long term which might out see Mitch Moses & we’ll need a halfback also.

Perhaps that was inevitable with DB going & Galvin rejecting.

At least we should be able to enjoy the ride. Seeing Iongi, TDS / Smith, Papalli & Moses in attack together could be absolutely anything.

      • Don't take notice of Coryn.  The club can't do anything right according to her. Coryn how the fark would you ever find out how much every individual player is on?  You're just clutching at straws again finding something to complain about.

If we don't sign him — club is crap, it can't even sign him

If we sign him — club is crap, it pays overs for potential worse than Smith (we'll lose Smith now)

        What's new

        • I thought Coryn was a bloke as when I asked recently if Coryn was a female name I was informed no it's a male name. Very confusing 🤔

          • CE, its about time you realised that Chiefy is a transvestite, you are a 3 humped camel and Coryn is a male that has played more football than any of you guys could imagine.

Chiefy don't try and turn your BA hatred on Coryn, he is  a valuable contributor on this site and God only knows we need as many of them as possible.

            Just stick to your knitting!

            • Transvetite explains it all...the little cheerleader ensemble he obvs. wears when he posts...the feminized version of the moniker Chief and his shameless, public courting of Coryn.

              They are a tranny

        • Could be wrong, but the timing of re-signing Ryley just before all this likely shows he is very much in the plans, and wasn't kept in the dark about it?

I mean, players can't decide on recruitment, but there is something to be said for remaining honest, communicative & respectful, and feels like the Eels have done that with Smith.

Ryley deserves his spot, imo, TDS can come in & earn his.

          • Every club needs at least 2 nrl standard hookers

          • Good point NOS you have make a good point about that timing.

        • Tell you onething chief if anyone here is following the shit your shovelling there farked.

As for the club and where how they operate doesn't nie on 40 years of fail with a few highlights inbetween tell you where the clubs at when it comes to doing things right.

You miss that 40 yr anniversary incoming you twat your normally good with the 2's in front of your face stuff how'd you miss that one 😂 but don't worry all is well with the club they've got you where they want you.

Forget that shite until I actually want to  see real results here they aren't getting off the hook or credit from me until they do.I leave that for suckers like you.

"I could very easily see Smith doing Walker's role after some time. He is a great runner of the ball, as seen with his time at Penrith.
Since Walker has worked so well in that role of course Ryles is going to want to keep that type of player at 14,…"

"I don't think it would be the full $650k for the 4 years as reported. Maybe by the last year, but it sounds too rich to be true."
