I reckon a big name forward and 5/8 are definitely required. I also think we need a decent centre. "

Brisbane pay more than a mil right now.
If we are paying 650 from the jump with TDS I'd be very disappointed because I don't think anyone else would. If he has escalators in his deal around performance then ok.But if we've paid the above amount for me that's a risky proposition because your looking for more than what he is right away.
Yep we have taken a big risk with the money he is on. Heaps of potential but right now he is not better than Smith. One thing I am positive about though is how much players from new clubs and juniors have improved under JR so I hopefully the same follows for TDS.
Yes, I am hoping that he has bought him aa a potential 5/8. Defence in the middle as shown up by the Dragon's was terrible.
Never played 5/8. I highly doubt lol
That's the key words EA, 'right now'. I doubt Ryles goes for a Hooker if he was convinced Smith is the starter for next 10 years, there has to be something he wants that Smith doesn't give him. Anasta mentioned that Ryles wanted a more eyes up Hooker.
Reports are the extra year got Da Silva over the line, Manly only offered 3 years. With us, firstly desperate to get him by offering the 4th year, but offering 4 years all together shows they are going all in with Da Silva as our future. Not saying Smith cannot up stage him as i feel Ryles would pick the best Hooker. But if he felt Smith was the best option we do not sign Da Silva.
Yeah argument is we needed Hooking depth, but you don't sign Da Silva on 4 years for depth. Plus it seems from Parramatta they feel Da Silva is the future at this point. But hey Smith defied the odds against Lussick and Hands on a 2nd tier contract to go and debut in Round 1 and now becoming our starting Hooker, he will give it a go going up against Da Silva.
Iam about over the Eels paying overs for potential. Paying this kid 650k so he can learn how to play like a 650k hooker is dumb.
What happens when Riley Smith keeps improving to become a top number 9, and I think he will.
650k for a back up hooker, now that's expensive.
I'd have thought the club would have paid the same sought of money Mahoney was on 20-22 and use that as the comparative number.I'd we have paid the mentioned I'd be interested to see what the Cows and Manly were offering money wise.
With competition for his services I can kinda understand the price ballooning but as mentioned he wanted to stay close to home so surely that's worked in our favour but if like you say we've paid 650 for me it's about 250 a season to much.
Coryn, I said 350 plus KPI's....I cannot believe we would pay that sort of money either.
The managers and media I would not trust as far as you can throw them.
That's the right sought of coin 350 and if it is like you say that's good business the years are good also because there undoubtedly is head room to improve and he's a young up n comer.I got zero issues if it's like you say Pops and as above that's a good win for the club.
